Meet Audra “DJ Reality” Murrell | CEO – Behind The Spins LLC, V.P. – Local Traffic Only Music Group LLC & A&R/Head of Marketing – The Stachehaus

We had the good fortune of connecting with Audra “DJ Reality” Murrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Audra “DJ Reality”, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
At the time of my demise, I would like for my legacy to be one where the people who have gathered, will say that I gave way more than we truly realized. That they remembered that I wanted the best for those I loved and that everyone has at least one inappropriate story, a story that showed either true human nature and one of empathy. I would want people to remember that I gave love openly and just wanted the same in return. I want my legacy to be one of knowledge, not only for myself but I wanted to educate about the music business & but also learn from it to help indie artists.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Audra “DJ Reality” Murrell is a digital marketer, DJ, author, a former instructor at the Conn. School of Broadcasting, former executive producer of Park Jam Series FL, V.P of Local Traffic Only Music Group, President of the Sniper Squad DJs Organization and A&R Executive/Head of Marketing for The Stachehaus; a digital distribution aggregator based in Atlanta, GA.
Audra has received her Bachelor of Science in Music Business Management & her Master of Science in Digital Marketing from Full Sail University, and is using all her knowledge to bring technology, Internet marketing and urban music together as one.
As the owner of Urban AllStar Media Marketing LLC & Behind The Spins LLC, both full-scale digital marketing agencies, she has helped corporate entities and Independent Labels advance their brands by seeking to reach a broader urban demographic audience and build genuine engagement.
With all of my achievements, I still feel the need to prove myself to the world and those that place their trust in me. Obtaining all my knowledge (and I am still learning everyday), aligning myself with the right mentors, and believing in my universal path allowed me to overcome those who would listen to my advice but pay others to tell them the same thing.
I learned to value my worth and what I bring to the table, I know that sound cliché, but once you understand your worth, it makes you place a higher sense of being to becoming a successful business woman… especially in the music industry!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow… Girl Trip LOL!!! I am originally from New York City, but live in Tampa, FL, so this trip would have to be sponsored by JetBlue LOL. The first place we would start is in NYC so we can go party at TAJ Nightclub, hit up my boy DJ Will up at Power 105.1 fm for an exclusive studio tour, and then meet up with my DJ family and hit up Chinatown for some of the best food EVER! The restaurants serve authentic Chinese food and they are open late. I would make sure that we got some tourist stuff done in the morning time, but mostly we would visit all the local food spots that I miss living in FL.
White Castle’s in Brooklyn, real NYC Pizza and Bagels with Cream Cheese in Manhattan, Chopped Cheese in The Bronx, Thai food in Queens… I am a foodie, so we would make those rounds during the day, and at night “turn up” with the DJs that I know and club hop until we can’t anymore.
We would then jump on the plane and head to Tampa where we would go to Ybor for the Cigar experience (the clubs down there are too young for my trip), head over to Sparkmans Wharf to eat and go bowling, or just chill and watch the boats come into the pier.
But at least one day will be spent relaxing at Indian Rocks Beach with some Publix subs and a few bottles of wine. We will need this day of relaxation after coming back from NYC.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
DJ K Yung & LaTonia Robinson deserves their flowers from me each time I see them! Each have helped me find my way in this industry in different ways. Tough love is an understatement coming from both these powerful women. They keep me on track daily and provide positive affirmations that keep me grounded.
