We had the good fortune of connecting with Charizma Giavanni and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charizma, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I always say Rick Taking is something no one is ever ready for, you just do . I grew up in a family where we stuck to structure and I was always the one going left while everyone went right. I do not believe in Consequences, just lessons. If you do not take risk how will you know what the outcome will be. Risk has played a huge part in my life from being an influencer to a business owner. Being a curvy girl , I strongly believe you can wear whatever you please and make it look fire, then when it came to my makeup business ; I quit my retail job to open a glam room. Have not looked back since, yes it has its triumphs but each time I overcome.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I as a Makeup Artist and creative comes with so many levels. I have been a makeup artist for 11 years but always in the retail beauty industry. Such as Sephora, MAC, Nars etc. I am so proud of, first and foremost; me. Because I don’t think we celebrate ourselves enough. But I am also proud of the consistency. In the beginning, a Business will not take off as fast as we want, so we get impatient and forget the part where we have to go out and push our brand . We are the marketers, the designers, the employees and the payroll. It gets hard however if it was easy, everyone will have it and that’s what makes me different. Over coming challenges personally starts with your mind, if you give up now there will always be a what if. There were days where I was going to beauty school with no money for lunch, or actually quitting my job to focus on my entrepreneurship knowing the risks it will have.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is how to separate emotions from business, Being able to feel emotions but going back to business. Sometimes emotions can affect long term decisions.

Giavanni Artistry Makeup is a brand I started to not only do makeup for a living but to give women a safe space to decompress for a while, people tend to forget that as artist we are therapist, Women come to bear all while feeling beautiful . That’s the best part of my career is getting to know each client in my chair.
I want the world to know that I created this brand hand and foot, ten toes down .. Giving up was never an option. I chose the route where passion, compassion and seeing the world in a beautiful light.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow! I have such a good Support system , First and foremost God has been the head, I created such a bond with him and he created the way. My mom, my family , for creating such strength in my mind and teaching me about emotions. My God Mother Nicole Turner for showing me how a woman in power conducts herself and stands with poise in every situation. My circle of friends who I consider family , The ones who showed up for me every step of the way. Never turned their back.

To F&A salon by Ayanna for giving me the chance to start my glam room but also takes the time to teach me the game every step of the way.
To Carl Anthony , my little brother just know you got this.
