Meet Andrew Fennell | Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Fennell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Consistency. Despite the creative climate, maintaining consistency is the most important factor behind the success of my brand. Sure, there’s ups and downs, and plenty of stale moments in between.
I believe the point is to work each day with the mentality that art holds the most weight when it’s measured in the scope of the ages, not the various trends we find within one decade.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My simplistic art highlights each subject through a minimalistic eye. I believe what sets me apart from other artists is that my lens translates an intimate, genuine and true subject staring back at the audience.

To pinpoint one thing that I’m most proud of is really tough. Overall I’m so proud that i can continually create, while making a great living, simultaneously.
Like, think about how many ideas, inspirations and straight-up new visions gotta come along daily for years, even, in order to provide the world (and my bank account, lol) with bigger better and more projects to accomplish.

I got where I am today by networking, as well as building relationships.
It really is true that talent is only a small fragment of the formula.
The art industry is all about the way you leave people after meeting them, true story!
Did you make your mark, or were you bashful?
Were you confident? And did you listen, or did you talk their ear off?
It’s important to remind ourselves about that age-old saying “it’s about WHO we know, not so much as WHAT we know”
So, get to know who you meeting before pushing what you know onto them.

How I overcome my challenges was by not crying to nobody when I encountered an ‘L’ (and trust- there were lots!).
Take your ‘L’ as it comes and always keep it moving. So many valuable lessons, I’ve learned came from one space only- the ‘L.’

Lessons-
You gotta believe in your art first!
Make absolutely sure you believe in it, cause it’s some rough patches where you not gonna be as confident, and not have as much coin in ya pockets.
Not everyone is gonna ‘get it’, but that’s sort of the point, huh?
There’s something that clicks one point, when you grant yourself that type of grace.
After some time, it’ll feel like all of a sudden, you look around and bam!
Now, you’re ‘Big bro”.

I want history to reflect that Andrew Fennell is remembered, period.
Think about it, tho, our planet’s population is about to be at 8 Billion!
Humans are already planning to take our species into intergalactic colonies!
There needs to be humans on those colonies who know my name.
Good or bad, ugly or indifferent. Do you know how remarkable it would truly be for anybody to remember my art when we’ve made it to that part of our story as humans?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandmother, Pamela’s efforts to come to the United States from Jamaica definitely shaped my work ethic. Wow- that woman took charge when my parent’s had to work double time to keep a very tight household. This might have been where I got my perfectionist traits from. I also got my eagerness to excel, and drive to succeed, from my folks.

Amber Ravenel, of The Ravenel Agency, was instrumental in connecting me with the resources to build my multi-million dollar empire, lol. All jokes aside, though if it weren’t for Amber, I might not have met such success at an early part of my career, when I was making a name for myself in the entertainment industry.

My wife, Deanna, is my greatest support system. Along with believing in my creativity, Deanna was the backbone of my ability to take the enormous risk of betting on my self, and my connections, in show business & the arts.
