We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Madison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want the world to remember me as an authentic, genuine, creative- DOER. I’ve always been willing to take risks, bet it all on myself, and at least give it a try. Being courageous and following the path to your isn’t always easy. However, I always keep in mind that we never know what we’re capable of, unless we take that first step and go for it. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, nor have I consistently been encouraged with every endeavor, but resilience has taken me the furthest. In the end, I hope that I am able to inspire others to follow their dreams.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a multi-business owner. Awaken Beauty Co. (@awakenbeautyco) is an Aesthetics company that I have owned an operated for the last four years. We specialize in skincare and body waxing services. I am also in partnership and the Co-Founder of two additional businesses with my sister (bestfriend). One being “The Corridor” event venue (@thecorridornashville) and Fashion Brand, Saint Mantra (saintmantra_official. While all each of them are very special to me, I would like to spread the word about the one I am most passionate about.

Saint Mantra is more than a clothing brand. It’s a lifestyle; “Saint” represents the standards that we’ve adopted, dedication to our best selves, and the influence we wish to have on the culture to do the same. “Mantra” is representative of the words that we speak over our lives and the lives others, in hopes of heightening positivity and self love.

I tapped into Saint Mantra when I realized that my work as a skincare professional, didn’t stimulate me creatively. I am a creative to the core and no matter how much it’s suppressed, I always eventually need an outlet.

I’ve always had an eye and passion for fashion, and throughout my life, maintained an eclectic style. My business partner Charlesa Hopkins, had also always had that same level of passion for exploring fashions eclectically. We discussed teaming up a few times over the years, however, nothing became of it.

2020 came along, and with the pandemic putting world on ice, we revisited the idea of starting a fashion company. We considered a boutique. Charlie decided to leave her job because they weren’t ensuring the safety of their employees, and I was forced to close my business for months due to cdc guidelines/regulations. With an unusual amount of free time, we began brainstorming; Names, branding, concept, direction. I wrote a 30 day to-do list of necessary task to get our business off the ground. To our surprise, we knocked everything out in exactly 30 days!

For the both of us, 2020 had become a year of ‘RESET’. We both set out to become more centered, intentional, and better humans all around.

Charlesa had mentioned that when she quit her job she was looking to get a business going and she had decided on the name “Saint Mantra”. She said it reminded her of her praying grandmother and positivity. It clicked and we ran with it. From the moment that I was able to sit with it, it resonated more and more, and our mission began unfolding. Because we were both on a similar path of spiritual growth and positive development, we decided to make that the foundation of our brand. We understand the importance of affirmation, so we combined fashion with positive self speak. Starting out, it was about our love for fashion, sharing our unique style and creativity with the world, and of course, financial gain. Ultimately, it blossomed into something more, that was anchored in spreading self love.

One of the most important factors behind our brand’s success is the branding and marketing. Creative direction is so fulfilling to me. From the it’s initial release, we have been devoted to maintaining and following the vision, and presenting and packaging our brand and its identity as top tier. There’s something about an innervision. forming right before. your eyes. With each collection launch we have made it a practice to set the expectation for an artistic presentation that represents Saint Mantra.

Our journey has not been easy! We’re two regular women who started with just a few hundred dollars and a dream. We’ve had so many set backs, wasted money, lack of funding, unforeseen circumstances, and the list goes. Nonetheless, with persistence and dedication, I am proud to to say that, one year later, were still pushing!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dining and having a great cocktail is one of my favorite past times. We would definitely explore all that the city has to offer in that department. I also enjoy participating in activities that inspire spiritual growth and wellness, so I’m always down for group yoga, meditation, and health spas. I love music, art and most things artistic, therefore, you would. most definitely catch us at a. concert, art. exhibit, and/or a lounge.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d say my entire village deserves a shoutout. I appreciate the support that I have received along the way.. Although I would’ve appreciated it greatly, I’ve not had much personal experience with mentorship as a mentee, but I have been encouraged by friends, family, customers, and clients. I fully understand that without the people who support my businesses, I wouldn’t have anything. I’d have to give the biggest shoutout to them.

I also appreciate authors, spiritual, and life coaches/speakers such as Brene Brown, Ben Horowitz, Deepak Chopra, Iyanla Vanzant, and Oprah, who provide me with tools and guidance.

In addition, there are women from all walks of life, who inspire me in all aspects.
