Meet Linda Nguyen | Makeup Artist, Instructor & Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Linda, why did you pursue a creative career?
Having to grow up quickly out of my childhood made me a tense adult. I tend to be stressed about little things but as soon as I found this creative outlet I found a way to release all that stress. Even on my hardest days doing my own looks or a clients makes me feel a little bit lighter.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others? That’s such a hard question to answer I always let my work speak for itself. With that being said I got where I am professionally with constant work. I took clients every day at very low rates even some free faces just to keep my hands working and at night I would do my own looks to test out new techniques and looks. Was it easy? Absolutely not I worked a waitressing job with crazy hours, to fund my dreams plus I had work I wasn’t pleased with, clients that weren’t satisfied, and people who doubted me even my own mother. I pushed through all the doubt, recreated everything I hated and reached out to those clients to try again. After I invested in classes with Olivia Song and Shirley Beats even some online classes overseas. Number one lesson I learned is to believe in myself as long as I believe in myself I can truly accomplish anything. I never a day in my life thought I was going to grow up and be a makeup artist, teacher or influencer. My story is quite long and one day I’ll tell it all but, I want the world to know that no matter what type of life you grew up in you can always change your own path.. my brand will inspire all artist and future artist to create what they love, art has no limitations. For clients to feel great in their skin weather they have a natural face or a full blown Instagram slay. For my followers to know that even on my darkest days the work I create for them is my very best I can give.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friends live here, so what I can do is tell you a typical girls day which usually lands on a Tuesday or a Friday night. We’ve been going to Vice for dinner which is a beautiful restaurant with decent music in the middle of downtown, Buffalo. If you walk around downtown on the weekends you’ll find some fun to get into. At night the place gets lit so we grab drinks there as well they have a great selection. If we’re not there we’re trying out new food places, our city has plenty of amazing places to eat like Shys, Park Vue, DA Taste, La Kueva, Etc. Hang out spots depends on the mood we’re in we can hit local spots or just drive around and still have a great time. If we need a spa day we hit up One Stop Body Shop. My friends don’t like clubs so much but if their in the mood, Jason Moore throws some of the best parties in the city. If you see his name just know you’re going to have a great night!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Most of my credit goes to my grandmother, she always let me know it’s okay to fail until you’re happy with your result. That quote was said in Vietnamese so hopefully it sounds right in English.
