Meet Keshara Mason | Songwriter/Artist/Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Keshara Mason and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keshara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business would have to be seeing my mother as an entrepreneur for 30+ plus years as a hairstylist. I wanted to step out on faith and figure out how can I implement that same drive and ambition for my own projects. I had so many visions that I wanted to bring forth and I decided to do a podcast to show relevant topics and conversations that are a much needed conversation to have in today’s society. I also had to revamp my life as well after being misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis from a former employer I use to work for and enduring that type of pain and trauma was a different experience for me I seen 16 doctors and went to 70 appointments applied for 300+ positions and was told that I was overqualified for positions and I’m a college graduate. So for the last three years my life had to be rebuild I had to pick the pieces up and allow God to order my steps and he still is during this process. So for me the thought process of starting a business takes a lot of thought and learning of course but being your own boss and providing new opportunities for the people is special feeling and with the other goals I have I hope to do that one day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was writing poetry as a child and started doing music in the 8th grade all the way until high school. I didn’t start posting videos or freestyles of mine until I got on Instagram and that was roughly my junior year in high school. I was seen on Instagram by a good friend of mine now by the name of Scott Taylor he was an audio engineer and he invited me to record at the studio he does sessions at and after that I was able to connect with other musical peers. Also my mother was a hairstylist so she did a few celebrity events and I was able to network and connect with other talents as well.

I wouldn’t say it was an easy process being creative and creating content is special and the art of words are so fulfilling that many lyrics have and can impact a persons life and I wanted to create stories wether they were mine or someone I knew their story I wanted it to be exciting even though the circumstance could of been a bad situation. The challenges I’ve overcame I would say some will listen and many won’t listen to your content but you must trust the process while still building.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way get with a team of like minded people work together to create magic that will not only be helpful to you but to others as well.

I would like the world to know that I Keshara Mason/MonaeTheArtist I’m forever grateful for any challenge that I have ever crossed paths with whether good or bad. Most importantly I’m happy to be alive with everything I’ve endured from 2018 up until now. I don’t take anything for granted and I love to be a positive experience when others are not feeling there best.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was in town visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time. We definitely have to check out the studios of course lol definitely checking out all the black owned restaurants one of my favs is Paschals. Definitely check out copper cove and even hit the goldroom, magic city, blue flame. I would also like to mention taking a trip to see the Georgia guide stones and the museum history is important on every trip especially when you want to know the actual meaning behind something.

First I would like to thank God who’s ahead of my life and I wouldn’t have the gifts or talents without him.
