We had the good fortune of connecting with Talibah Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Talibah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process for me was combined with the love and need for realistic hair care that works and then age. I knew that I had to create a income that needed to be beyond being in a salon
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My hair care business is about providing ingredients that are natural. Which solves hair problem and not cover them up. Getting back to real hair care from the old days ! What sets me apart is that I’m not just trying to sell you a product. I want to heal whatever hair issues you have with out sugar coating it. Telling what’s real and what’s not necessary. I research every ingredient so that is properly combined. Im excited about people loving and believing in my products. Every time I get a review or see the change in people’s hair after using AlwayzprettiHaircare, lights me up. I’m also excited about where my company is headed. Slow and steady is the race . I got to where I am in by really living what I do and as far as the Haircare business. The pandemic pushed me to get off my butt and do something. There was no income coming in-as hairstylist. I had to do something. I was so scared. Lord! I was so scared and my friends said just post what you have. Which was just a Growth Serum, but baby it took off and the ideas just kept coming in and so was the orders. It’s hard work but I love it. A lot of tears, pep talks, almost becoming homeless I kept pushing. My friends and grandmother pushed me ! The lessons I learned along the way is that don’t build a brand / company because of popularity, or friends and family supporting it because they might not. That’s just real talk. Build a business because you believe in it first and foremost and watch God provide the people and ideas you need. Be consistent and even when you’re not. Try and try again. It’s ok to keep starting over until u get your niche right. I want the world to know there is no gimmicks about my haircare. I want them to picture my business as a trustworthy friend that will always have your back or your grandmama. You know that soothing voice and touch. Yea! Picture that for your hair. Think of my story of the girl who got counted out but counted on herself
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I have been residing in Pennsylvania for 2 years since leaving New York. So I am the getaway. I love to entertain and create a warm atmosphere. People always say they feel like they’re at peace in my home. So ! We would start of with breakfast and mimosas listening to 80s & 90s R&B music of course. Chatting and catching up. We always seem to have these deep conversations which turn into therapy sessions and laughter. Target trips and must love when I cook for them and create drinks out of my head. Josh Chardonnay, Dreaming Tree Crushed red wine and my speacial Champagne, Goya mango juice mixed with Cognac. Baby it’s a good time we’ll spent. Harlem And I don’t care how simple that sound is the best place you can visit it’s a melting pot of culture, food and fun. Corner Social, Ginny’s. Second best place is my land of Jamaica. Yes, the resorts are cool. But go onthe roadside for some jerk chicken. Another thing I would say is to take a solo trip to any where you want to go. The most liberating thing I did and I went to the Dominican Republic. I was so refreshed when I came back home mentally. I’m very big on alone time to refresh my mind and health
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, anyone who is creative in any form inspires me in one way or another. However, my grandmother really believed in me and also pushed me in every way. When it came down to my creative talents. Some times we can be doubtful about our ideas and I love that I can always get an encouraging word from her. Seeing people do well, strive and over come always puts a pep in my step. I just just love seeing it
