We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Robledo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

I’ve always been a creative person, ever since birth, turning that creative side of my brain off is especially hard for me. I attended an art magnet elementary school and throughout high school I took graphic design. I guess I owe a lot of my creativity to my parents, my dad is a graphic designer and my mom is a seamstress.

However after graduating high school I had no clue as to where I wanted to take my career path and started many endeavors such as a Communications Major and Cosmetologist. It wasn’t until last year, while spending a lot of time at home, that I realized I could use my creativity to propel my career.

I was already spending hours of my time creating fun graphics for myself and reworking logos for fun, so why not apply my skills in the real world. In trying to grow and make a name for myself online I noticed that I was having fun and that my work didn’t feel like work. Upon a little self reflection I came to the conclusion that a career in the creative field was perfect for me.

Combined with my creative passion, I strive to help other entrepreneurs and business owners achieve their goals through social media.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I am a Social Media Manager & Content Creator for up and coming entrepreneurs, small businesses and for myself. I started out by trying to emulate what I was seeing from others on Instagram. I have always been into fashion and beauty & when I learned I could make it a career just by posting about my favorite brands I said “Why not?”.

A lot of people think it’s easy work but there are a lot of hours that go into this job. From finding locations to take photos, to hours of editing & trend research I feel like most days I’m working a 9 to 9 job. This journey started for me a year ago when I discovered Social Media could be used as a platform for your business. In trying to create a name for myself I realized all the hard work that goes into it and thought to myself, “If I’m struggling to do this, how many others are going through the same thing and not knowing where to start?”.

Through Kennesaw State University I earned a certificate in Social Media Marketing, applied my graphic design skills and started reaching out to small businesses that could potentially use my help. There was a lot of sacrifice and long nights involved since I was also working a full time job but in the span of a year it has paid off.

A huge lesson I learned is to always be true to yourself. In pursuing a self driven career it’s easy to get carried away & follow the dreams of others but I’ve learned that knowing your truth gets you a lot further.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I’ve discovered a ton of cool spots living here for the last 15 years. The perfect girls day would start with some amazing breakfast at Egg Harbour Cafe, then we’d go for some afternoon wine tasting at Big Door Vineyards, of course do some shopping and possibly end the day with a sunset picnic at Piedmont Park.

A must would be to visit Ponce City Market, grab some Italian food at Bellina Alimentari or some yummy Macaroons at Saint Germain. The Rooftop at Ponce is the perfect place to see the city with the bonus of a mini carnival and drinks!

The perfect end to a girls weekend would be a little trip to Savannah – maybe a ghost tour or a stop at Tybee Island.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family & fiancé. I have a tight knit family, growing up we spent a lot of time together and did almost everything together. They constantly push me to follow my dreams & continue to do so even when I am doubting myself. My fiancé Patrick is who I owe most of my confidence to when it comes to putting myself out there. He is my number one hype man, from taking the majority of my photos to supporting my spur of the moment decisions. I know that I have his support no matter what and that he’s in this 100% of the way with me even if I fail sometimes.

I owe all my success to my family and Patrick. Their love and support keeps my head held high on those really tough days, so to them – I LOVE YOU GUYS!!
