We had the good fortune of connecting with Shikera Dinkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shikera, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Changing my mindset to being more forward thinking and proactive brought everything i have now into fruition. Determination, Focus and Dedication played a major role in my Success. Losing the habit of procrastination that many aspiring business owners posses in the beginning.. the I’ll do it tomorrow or next month…or I’ll take that class when I get time… the, I’ll get that license or patent soon. The what if’s and the maybes… yea, I changed that habit. I no longer allowed those things to occupy my mind space. Once I decided to handle the little things at that moment instead of putting them off for later new opportunities for growth opened up for me in abundance. I went from an aspiring business owner to a just that, a BUSINESS OWNER. with that one notion. Things will always start to fall in to place when you make room for them to. That has been my biggest lesson on this journey to success. Don’t put your dreams on hold, because time waits for no one, and you & your success are just as important as everything else on your agenda. Just because you may not be able to physically see the end result at the current moment believe me it’s imperative that you execute the foundation now so it can form in the future.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our art style varies a lot. Most of my inspiration comes from music and life experiences. I enjoy trying different art styles and making them my own as well as teaching others to do so. As well as Microblading is a form of art to me. I remember getting started after seeing a you d woman who had been diagnosed with cancer cry about not having brows for her prom. I wanted to help people like that. I wanted to help give someone who has gone through so much have one less thing to worry about if I could. The art and character of brows never cease to amaze me and I genuinely find happiness in providing the service. When it’s ones to art it takes a while for me to get inspired on my own, so I would say that would be the hardest part. Starting at a blank canvas can be overwhelming at first. You never want to paint the wrong thing, but once you get over that jump the beauty flows naturally. It’s a calming and soothing experience that once I felt it I wanted to share with others and that’s how ArtAsf mobile sip and paint cane about. As far as something I want the would to know.. I’d say is that my goal is to always provide the gift of happiness to others through my crafts. Seeing the joy after someone receives a requested art piece or on my clients face after their brow sessions is really what I’m about.. I strive to create good memories, experiences and great work with everything that I do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay so I’m a huge foodie. Like the actual go to restaurant person. So after we get those brows slayed by the Archepreneur we are hitting up Black owned spots, for breakfast lunch and dinner. Maybe start with Dmitris on the east side for breakfast, then go shop some clothes boutiques on every side of town, definitely gotta go try blendz on sylvan rd, just because the drinks look amazing. Oh! Entrees on Candler rd is a must for Lunch and stop by the trap museum, for a quick Atl art experience. Baltimore crab & seafood on cascade for dinner and Peter street station for more art at night. If it’s Sunday definitely the bonfire because you can social distance in a corner away from everyone if need be and still have a good time & definitely go visit the outcast mural behind Wish in little five and mines well hit Sevenada for some fresh herbs while we are down there for some tea… oooh and definitely go grab a philly cheese steak egg roll from the fillup station by Greenbriar mall… and on Sunday We eating at my family house after we go fishing for crappie!! I know I’m missing a lot of things but that’s just off the top of my head. So basically… we eating lol!
