Parenting is an incredibly important responsibility and so we wanted to get a conversation going with input from parents in the community. We asked them: what is the most important thing you’ve done as a parent? We’ve highlighted some of the responses below.

I believe that I have provided them with self confidence and self esteem. If they don’t hear it from anyone else, one thing that is a guarantee is that my son will be addressed as a king and my girls addressed as queens. I constantly tell them how smart they are and assure them that they can accomplish and conquer anything in this world that they put their mind to. The most important thing I have done as a parent is shed any ideals about parenting passed to me from my parents. My parents did the best they could using the tools and skills they had at that time. It was not good or bad, nor right or wrong; it just was. I know that my parents loved me unconditionally; however, as I underwent therapy to reparent myself and heal from childhood traumas, I knew I had to be completely different with my children.
