We had the good fortune of connecting with Takiyah Denise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Takiyah, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I have found myself in many spots like this. Throughout my whole life it felt like this. Where I was going through different difficulties of being judged. I wasn’t small enough, light skin enough, pretty enough etc. I was judged for my looks more than anything and that made it very hard for me to be confident within myself. Made it hard to even keep going with certain things I wanted to do. Like being in the fashion industry. You had to have a certain look and standard to yourself in the era I was born in. Unfortunately, at the time curvy women weren’t the look. So I got bullied for it. But you see where I am now! Loving myself more than anything. Taking care of myself and my feelings first before anyone else’s. Really believing that I can do whatever I put my mind to. So I made the choice to not give up by keeping at my goals and continuing to spread the message of body positivity and love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a Curve Model and Influencer is the best thing I’ve ever done! I knew that being in the fashion industry is something I wanted. So, I put my all into becoming a model and being an influencer is the reason why I am a model today. A full time one at that! I am truly proud of how far I’ve reached within my career. I’ve gotten myself all throughout Google. Worked with huge companies like Zulily, Good American, Wish, Temu, Bose, and more. While currently booked my first phone brand deal! I work very hard to get these deals and to see interviewers and other companies reaching left and right. I am just grateful for it!

It hasn’t been easy, as their were times I almost gave up. But, I knew I couldn’t do that. I knew about my goals and where I wanted to reach. So I kept going and now look at where I am! Doing better than ever!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend somewhere Instagram/Influencer friendly! Most of my friends are picture takers along with myself included. So somewhere peaceful where we can enjoy the weather and enjoy each other. Top places are The Cork Wine Tours as we love wine and love to relax plus seeing new scenery while sipping our wine! It’s a luxurious feeling. Also, since I am pescatarian and my friends love seafood. I would take my friend to Atlanta Fish where they have the freshest meals and beautiful decor inside!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out my girl Dev Dior! She has been killing it and doing amazing in the influencer and business world! She’s authentically herself and always providing love and support to everyone she knows. Seriously a sweet heart and y’all have to check out her amazing skincare brand called Skin by Dev! Skincare is awesome! She’s also a mentee of mine and I’ve been helping her get higher into the industry. Dev is someone to recognize as she works extremely hard in everything she does. She encourages everyone around her to do amazing things and to keep going. To also be strong! She deserves credit in all she does!
