We had the good fortune of connecting with Zonte Sirod and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zonte, why did you pursue a creative career?
I started pursuing my career as a recording artist when I seen the response I get from when I rap or do poetry. I always been in love with music so to make it a career was a easy transition. Growing up in a house hood where music went from Neo Soul to Gangster rap I converted that into what I do now.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well what set me apart from most people in my sound. It’s very original. I pull from so many different places. House music, rap, trap, disco, neo soul, RNB, blues, ect. I am excited for sound I am creating for myself and the new music I am currently making. I am still on the rising part. I have been consistent. It has been a tough rough. Very costly, time savvy, and frustrating. I’ve learned to never give up. And believe in yourself more then anybody around you. I need the world to know that you can come from anything and still have the same success long as you push for it. I want to be seen as inspiration to all them boys learning to be a man without one to show them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I visit I like to go to the soul box for great soul food.

For breakfast I’ll eat at Atlanta’s Breakfast Club.

I love going to Cascades for skating or the Aquarium.

The coca cola museum is nice also.

My favorite is the trap museum and Lenox mall. (You never know who might be there)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would want to shout out to Soundspace Indianapolis. For giving me a dope environment to record in. I’ve been there for longer then a year. They have gave resources to local artist and I have use majority of them.

I also would like to shout out my Uncle Tiny for giving me the tools in music to be come successful. The keyboards, the art of writing raps, the making of songs. He has inspired me a lot.
