Meet Zoe Ramsey | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zoe Ramsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zoe, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always loved being behind the camera. In middle school, I started taking photos for fun, capturing anything that caught my eye. In high school, I joined the yearbook team, got my hands on a “real” camera, and fell in love with sports photography.
After graduating, I stepped away from photography, unsure if it would ever be more than a hobby. But when friends and family started asking me to take their photos, I realized how much I loved capturing life’s big moments. That demand pushed me to invest in my own camera and officially turn my passion into a business. Now, instead of sports, I get to document major milestones—engagements, pregnancies, families, and new business ventures. What started as a personal love for photography has grown into a career that allows me to preserve people’s most important memories.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business started from a passion for photography that grew into something much bigger over time. What sets me apart is my focus on capturing real, unposed moments. I want my clients to remember how they felt, not just how they looked in the photos.
It hasn’t always been easy, there were plenty of moments when I felt stuck or unsure. But through persistence, learning from setbacks, and staying focused on why I started, I’ve been able to keep moving forward. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success doesn’t come overnight; it’s about staying consistent and trusting the process.
What I want people to know about my brand is that it’s not just about beautiful pictures, it’s about telling real stories and making people feel seen and valued. My journey isn’t perfect, but it’s mine, and I hope it inspires others to keep chasing their dreams, no matter what.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d definitely want to show them a great time! We’d start with a trip to Marietta Square, which is one of my favorite spots. We’d wander around, check out the shops, and swing by the Robert Kent Art Gallery, where my partner works. It’s always fun to see the new art they have on display. After that, we’d grab some bubble tea at The Reading Attic, and I love how cozy the upstairs is. It’s the perfect place to kick back, sip on tea, and maybe read a book or just chat.
When it’s time for food, Three Rose Tavern is the place to go. The vibe there is awesome, and their food and drinks are always spot-on. Whether we’re just grabbing a bite or enjoying some drinks, it’s always a good time.
We’d spend the rest of the day just soaking in the local atmosphere, wandering around the square, and enjoying whatever comes our way. It’s such a laid-back spot, but there’s so much to see and do. Honestly, I think we’d be busy having fun the whole week!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve got to give a huge shoutout to my 11th-grade yearbook teacher, Melanie Lawhorn. She’s the one who got me into photography in the first place. I’ll never forget how she saw something in me I didn’t even know was there. She took the time to teach me not just the technical side of photography but also how to capture moments and tell stories through a lens. Her encouragement meant the world to me, and I honestly wouldn’t be as passionate about photography as I am now without her influence. She truly helped me see the world differently, and for that, I’m forever grateful.
