We had the good fortune of connecting with Zhanae Janae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zhanae, do you have a budget? How do you make lifestyle and spending decisions?
For a long time I didn’t want to, but now I’m really strict on myself to enforce a budget. I say that I live within my art and I’ve always been a person that says if I’m going to do something I’m gonna do my best and give it my all, however I do believe that having a budget and knowing where there are any gaps that you can close is very important. I am a very extravagant but elegant person all mixed up into one, so I love sophisticated flashy style but since I’ve been living with a budget and trying to build my business, I’ve settled for a little bit more of a classic style and it’s helped me to cut back on expenses and invest more into my brand and growing it. Now if I’m splurging, it’s less on nails or clothing, and more on a spa treatment, trip, or an experience.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, to put it simply my art is me. I believe that’s the biggest thing that sets me apart from others, because I can be inspired or influenced by the people around me, but overall I look to embody how I am feeling, what I am thinking, and I show how I would respond to situations in my life happening, then I try to motivate people to make the best decisions within their life using their own senses and a little bit of my influence.
I got to where I am today by kicking down doors that people convinced me were locked already. I do believe that rules are set in place for the right reasons and they should be followed, but sometimes you definitely need to overcome the boundaries that people are setting in your way because if you don’t then progress can’t be made and me believing that has really put me on a path to become exactly the kind of woman that I want to become today and who I will eventually become later.
I really want the world to know that I am still human, because people see me accomplishing great things and no matter how much I tell them that it’s through hard work, practice, and perseverance people still want to hold me to some ungodly level when really, if you just work hard, you can do great things too.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a really chill person, so usually people try to convince me to do something that they would want to do, but if we’re on a lit kind of vibe then you know I have to recommend Magic City ATL! It’s literally the Olympics meets strip club culture and I heard a girl named Zhanae works there and she’s pretty cool *wink wink* lol
But on a serious note, things that I really love to do would be the high art museum, the aquarium, I really like the restaurant cirque, and maybe a pottery class. Any other eating or activities would kind of just be freestyle and us walking around and us picking things randomly.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to my family. My mother, father and grandmother specifically have helped to shape me into who I am today which I really appreciate, and I’ve always had a strong love for civil rights figures and people who were making a change in their community, and hopefully the world on a bigger scale.
