We had the good fortune of connecting with Zenobia Cardwell, CWEP and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zenobia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ever since I was a little girl, I used to craft with my mom. It was her peace but my way of learning and embracing my creativity. I also knew that I LOVED watching events go from an idea on paper to seeing said event to fruition. So I look at the thought process of combining my left and right brain and H4 was born!

What should our readers know about your business?
What I think sets me apart from others is that I’m not only a creative but I’m also a Certified Wedding and Event Planner, so not only do I create custom gifts but I curate custom events as well. I enjoy not being a monolithic entrepreneur. I will say one of the best things things I did within my first year of business is invest in a business consultant who gave me A LOT of guidance and really helped me grow my business. One of the biggest lessons you learned along the way is “it’s okay to take breaks”. Whether it be for your mental, your physical health or just to keep your creativity fresh, it’s okay to take a break. One thing I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I’m merely a vessel of God’s wonders. He gave me this creativity and I absolutely intend to continue to create until I can’t anymore.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you were to come to Richmond for a week, I would be OBLIGATED to take you to a few of my favorite restaurants such as Pig and Brew, Mama J’s, Lillie Pearl, and Soul Taco. One of my favorite things about Richmond is that we are home to several museums and the mural count grows by the day. I would have to end the week with brunch at Maple Bourbon and ice cream at the Sweet Spot (can’t you tell I’m a foodie??)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story would be NOTHING without God FIRST AND FOREMOST. My late grandmother and grandfather, George and Joan Davis, I pray I am making you proud EVERYDAY. My mother for nurturing my creativity and my father for fueling my hustle. My college FRAMILY for inspiration!
