We had the good fortune of connecting with Zeeggy Mercy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zeeggy, why did you pursue a creative career?
It all started when I was a little girl who fell in love with dance. Dancing became my outlet. It’s something that makes me feel a whole with myself when l am falling a part, so it became a part of me. I knew I wanted to pursue a creative career when I started modeling in 2019. Being in front of the camera is how the world made sense to me. My dancing side helped me a lot as a model because when I am posing my body is the paint brush and I just start painting with movement. That showed me that my passion lies in art. Modeling opened the door of me turning into a creative artist. I slowly started working on creative photoshoot projects to tell stories that reflect the truths that I know and the truths that know me. Being able to bring a vision to life become one of the most rewarding aspect in my life and the faith in my vision created the rest of my path.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an artist feeling is my power, imagination my weapon and inner seeking a slow burn. My art is all about story telling. I make an image or video tell a story rather than just being a part of it. I am always part of the creative process. When I am creating there has to be some type of narrative. I have to know what message I’m trying to say and I care alot about the details in my craft.

My story as a creative artist was built off getting rejected by modelling agencies. It made me feel like I wasn’t good enough, but I had to find a way to absorb the rejection and channel it into positive energy. It was an extremely difficult process and it transcended itself into some pain, that is, like reflected in my art. I have no manager or modelling agency to push me. Everything I put out there is all me and my work ethic.

Nothing happened overnight, I’ve been laying bricks for years. I work tirelessly towards something that isn’t even at reach, but is in sight. It started off as a big dream and it felt so far away, but as everyday passes I chip away at that dream. Everyday, hour, minute of work and dedication got me where I am. It felt like baby steps, but a million baby steps kept me hiking up the tallest mountain. Throughout my journey I had to endure the sleepless nights, the pressure, the sacrifices and the endless resilience. I’ve survived turbulence, self doubts, I’ve had alot of ups and down but I always find the inner strength to pull myself up. I am driven by my purpose so I put every bit of my mind, heart, body and soul into my art

My story and purpose sets me apart from others. I am the author of my own story. I can’t speak for anybody else but I can speak for myself. I wanna stand for everything I have seen and experienced in my life, I will try to express it to the world the best way I can and I feel like l’m creative enough that I will make it work. I hope some people can relate to it and that’s gonna be enough.

I am so proud of my journey and how far I’ve come. In the process of me trying to grow as an artist, my story ended up inspiring other people. What was once a dream is slowly turning into reality and everything I’ve been through up til now is preparing me for my future. I am so excited for my future because I can feel it that it’s bright.

I love looking back at my progress, but something in me makes me feel like i’m still not doing enough which is why I am still here, still hungry, still passionate and still reaching for whats mine. I will show the world that there is more than one side to me. The world gotta watch who I am cause I am growing. Things might take time but when that time is here it will be forever. This is just the beginning of a girl with big dreams and I am not afraid to take up space because my art is needed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit me, I would bring them to my house so they can see my basement that I turned into my creative creating space. I’ve done a couple creative shoots in my basement so I definitely want my best friend to see the space where all my creative juice flows. Then I would take them downtown to visit the national gallery of Canada so we can take some cute photos and videos together. After that, we would definitely go grab some food at one of the restaurants in the ByWard Market. For the rest of the day we would just go with the vibes and see where life takes us because sometime I just love to let things flow on its own.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest shoutout goes to God for blessing me with all these talents that I am able to share with the world. My second shoutout goes to Valeriia Zaporozhets (photographer) she has been rocking with me since the beginning of my modeling career. She has helped me bring most of my vision to life. I really appreciate her alot. I have an incredible support system that deeply believes in me, so shoutout to my family and my close friends. They are the best, I am so grateful to have them around me. I couldn’t have been so far without all the amazing people who follow me on my social medial. They continuously support, encourage and show me love which is what keeps me going. I will never take them for granted at all. Lastly, I give all the credits to all the talented people I’ve got to work/create with since the beginning of my career they play a very big role in my story as a creative artist
