We had the good fortune of connecting with Ze6ra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ze6ra, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
In 2007, my seventh grade language arts teacher Ms. Daughtry, at Jane Macon Middle School in Brunswick, Georgia, told me that I aced the poetry portion of the class so therefore, She asked me why don’t I use my poetry skills and my musical talents- put those together, and start making music myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve struggled with depression over the years and now anxiety from traumatic experiences that have taken place in my life. That is what my music is all about. It is my real life experiences. My struggles, my hardships, my love life, heartbreak, being locked up for something I didn’t do, not being able to see my children, being homeless, and even a lot of accomplishments that I’ve made over the course of my career. It is all in my music. If you take every single one of my songs and put them together, you would know who I am and where I come from and what I want in life.

I grew up in a home full of music. My mom was musical. My dad was musical, so it had been instilled within me as a young child. Therefore, my mother and my father played a huge role in the inspirational part of my career. My father had asked me, while losing a battle to Congestive Heart Failure in the spring of 2016, to promise him that I make a million dollars by the age of 30 from my music. I turned 21 that summer, and I am 28 now, so I have a lot of work to do.

The company that I founded in the summer of 2019 is created to inspire others to be different and embrace difference in themselves from others. My mission statement is: Zebra Nation is Love & Support for all biracial people and interracial relationships across the globe. It is a global movement to help eliminate racism the best it can. And is a leadership organization that lets people from varieties of cultures, backgrounds, & ethnicities know that it is GREAT to be DIFFERENT!!!

My children play a huge role in the inspiration for my career because they give me a reason to keep going. As well as my fiancé Shaunice Marie Baker. When it comes to my children, they are why I don’t give up they’re why I keep going, and keep pushing forward in life, because I know how it feels, and what it is like to be alive without my father, and Shaunice, my fiancé on the other hand, has been here with me to help me through what I’m going through and to encourage me to not give up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m new to Atlanta, but as an artist I would show them the nightlife. I would also take them to restaurants that I was taken to by other friends and my fiancé.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give thanks to God first and foremost! I would like to give a shout out to my mother, my father, my Nana, my siblings, my three beautiful children and last, and not least, my fiancé, Shaunice Baker.
