We had the good fortune of connecting with Zaria Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zaria, what do you attribute your success to?
When it comes to my brand, consistency and dedication is the most important factor in my success. I say this mostly because once I started posting consistently I seen a tremendous change in numbers and supporters. People tend to gravitate towards consistent talent.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
POISEDBYZA is not just something I pulled out of the woods works. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a young child to be in the fashion industry. As a child, my mom always had me in something to keep me busy. I was in modeling camp, I took a sewing class and a visual arts class. I’ve always been so interested in fashion. Me and my mom would always watch Americas Next Top Model faithfully, every Tuesday to see the latest in fashion and pretend we were one of the judges. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in a year. I started just by making mood boards, now I’m working with models, local artists and some pretty popular public figures. Being dedicated to my craft and staying consistent really got me to where I am today, it hasn’t been an easy journey, but just like anything else, hard work isn’t easy. Watching other content creators and studying the industry helps me to this day overcome my fears of putting myself out there but I remind myself everyday that you only fail if you allow yourself to- and I won’t allow that to happen. I want the world to know that I’m just getting started and you will see me on the big screen very soon! Watch out world, POISEDBYZA will be a household name.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I live in the most beautiful city in the world, Chicago. A lot of people think that it’s so terrible but it’s not. There’s so much to see and so much to do. In a week, I’d start off with a nice bottomless mimosa brunch at 80 Proof in the Old Town neighborhood. Then, we’d go for a nice relaxing spa day at AIRE Ancient bath where we’d put our phones away and enjoy each others company. I’m super artsy and creative so I’m thinking we’d go to Bottles & Bottega paint and sip studio and let our creative side show with a nice bottle of our favorite wine because it is BYOB. Next, we’ll take a walk alongside Lake Michigan and admire the beautiful Windy City skyline, which is one of my favorite things to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I would like to give a shout out to my son. He’s my reason for everything! He motivates me daily to work harder than I did yesterday without even knowing it. Everyday I wake up and I’m automatically ready to break generational curses and generate wealth for my family. This is who I do it for, my family. I want to see them happy every chance that I get.
