We had the good fortune of connecting with Zaria Fluellen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zaria, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Balance is a tricky thing to think about. Creating balance within oneself is all about allowing lessons to take place in order to learn & grow. With that being said, I had to be open to the positive and negative situations that happen in my life to understand that it’s all about what makes me happy. Creating time for myself, taking care of my responsibilities, maintaining a positive mindset, and expecting the unexpected have helped me create a balance within my life. In all my experiences, even if things get hard, I always know life will balance out on its own as long as I go with the flow.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
To start off, I have a blog known as “Blogs By Nichelle Says” which pertains to tips & advice for college, self-care, lifestyle, and safety. I also have just started my business for resin art known as “Flu Resins” where I create imperfect pieces and turn them into perfections using the chemical known as resin. I am very excited for my business and blog to take off in the near future because I have worked extremely hard to do things that bring me joy but also, doing things that help others & creating art that they can always remember me by. In all honesty, it was not easy to get where I am right now in life with my blog and business, however, I’m glad it wasn’t easy because the goals I want to achieve in my life are huge which means it requires a lot of work & I am always up for a challenge! Remaining level-headed & reminding myself that “patience is key” is truly how I get through my professional challenges as well my personal challenges. I have learned that taking the easy way is not as rewarding as going the hard way; putting in time, effort, and energy into my craft is what makes everything worth it. I want my story to touch people in ways where it encourages them to step out of their comfort zone, face their fears, and chase their dreams because at the end of the day, we are all hear to learn about ourselves and reach our higher power no matter what it takes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the heart of Atlanta. Considering I am a Georgia State student, knowing of good places to visit is truly a pro of living here. A great place to go to chill with friends is the Ponce City Market; it has amazing scenery at the rooftop & you can get to enjoy the view of Atlanta. There also a few food places inside and cute places to take pictures ! One of my favorite restaurants is Sugar Factory; it is quite expensive, but truly worth it considering they have beautiful big drinks, great food, and cute places to take pictures. Lastly, two of the fun places to go in Atlanta are the Atlanta Botanical Garden & the High Art Museum; they are both beautiful places to go to chill & you get to see beautiful art and lights in both places. All the places I have listed are usually very busy so it is best to get to these places early or have reservations/tickets just in case!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to thank my close friends and my family for believing in me no matter what. Considering I have a long way to go with my plans for the future, they have stood by my side & continuously encouraged me to go for everything that I want. Most importantly, I want to thank the most high for giving me the power & knowledge to work towards my dreams & giving me experiences to learn from to achieve everything I have wanted.
