We had the good fortune of connecting with Zari Behzadfar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zari, what makes you happy? Why?
Everyday, if I feel like I have been useful in some way, that makes me happy. I believe when you do something beneficial for your family or community, it means that your life means something. This could be anything from work to cooking for my loved ones to spending time with them and making sure people feel taken care of. It can be as small as giving someone a ride or doing something bigger like taking care of someone in my house who is in need. I like to help people get back on their feet when they are going through a hard time and I love to see them become successful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Doing hair is something that I have always loved to do. Even when I didn’t pursue it when I was younger, I still always had a passion for it. I switched to this career because I needed to make money immediately.

Quickly, I learned that this career is something different from other jobs. This job allows you to make connections with people and play such an important role in people’s lives. When I met Sima, the founder of Zeba Hair Salon where I work, she taught me how to grow as a person and stylist and since then, I have been able to pass my knowledge onto others to allow them to grow as well.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta. I would also take them Lake Allatoona for a day trip.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My brother is someone I want to shoutout. He is an incredibly hard worker and I learned from him to never give up. He also taught me to not be afraid of failure. There were a few different instances where he struggled and failed, but he didn’t give up and he persevered.

I also want to shoutout my grandmother. She showed me to give away as much as you can even when you are not very rich. She wasn’t wealthy, but she was always helping others as much as she could. That is a huge inspiration to how I live my life.
