Meet Zach Bobo | Photographer And Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Bobo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zach, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Allowing myself to experience the failures fully so that I could receive every victory without any hindrance of self doubt.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Growing up I’ve always been more on the creative side I just didn’t know how to express it. It wasn’t until I joined the Army and deployed to Afghanistan that I ran into something that caught my attention. I learned how ignorant I was about the world. I saw so many beautiful landscapes and people that it overwhelmed me to the point that I felt I had to share it with friends and family back home. I first attempted to use my words but no matter how much I tried to explain what I was seeing it became clear that maybe the best medium to depict my experience would be something visible. That’s when I began seek all the information I could on what I would need to take the best photo. From there my curiosity grew and I no longer had interest in just 1 picture but the art form itself. Soon, it became the only thing I would occupy my mind. One day when I returned back to my barracks I sat on my bunk, where my hard drive and computer were, and the hard drive hit the ground. I lost every memory and blurry image. I then took that time to restart and be more intentional about my passions. Soon after I returned home I bought a camera and began to practice. Although the beginning was difficult and awkward at times, I would always rely on what my grandmother would say. “Never allow the struggles of today stop you from experiencing the triumphs of tomorrow!” This does not just command for resilience but truth. Yes there will be downs but to experience failure is to validate the existence of success and in my pursuit of my passion I wanted my business to model the same frankness of that sentiment. That’s why I named the company Candor Visuals because this company prides itself in revealing the true beauty of life’s complexities as well as the things we take for granted..

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say I’m not the type of person to give an itinerary when my friends come to visit. I have worked with so many businesses in and around Atlanta that picking just one would be difficult. My idea of fun always involves a healthy combination of good food and music in a space where those who are passionate about their craft can express it in its highest form. So things like visiting the many restaurants that I’ve worked with before catching a game at one of the numerous teams here to grabbing a bite at Dave’s Hot Chicken on the way to a candle light performance at Piedmont Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my parents David and Angela Bobo, my siblings, and the many other friends and family that allowed me to put my camera in their face for practice.
