Meet Yxng Don | Independent music artist
We had the good fortune of connecting with Yxng Don and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yxng, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
so I actually took about three years off to focus on my personal life and my music, with an emphasis on self-growth. Back in 2021, when we first spoke, I was extremely focused on getting my music out. I was working hard on my first project, ‘Strictly Business,’ and my mindset was all about ‘I need to get this tape done.’ I thought that the pandemic would be a major obstacle and would prevent me from achieving my goals, but it turned out that God had other plans for me. That experience taught me a lot, and I’m still figuring out how to balance my personal life with my music, but I’m learning how to prioritize both as I move forward.”
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I want the world to know about Yxng Don is that I’m always working. There’s never a time when I’m not grinding or pushing myself to improve. In the last six months alone, I’ve put out three projects, and in 2024, I released a song every single month of that year . It’s all about consistency and making sure my music stands out.
I got to where I am professionally through persistence and by constantly putting in the effort to sound different with every track. I don’t take my sound lightly – it’s something I’m very passionate about and protective of. It hasn’t been easy though. There are still sleepless nights from all the hard work that goes into making music, but the grind is worth it.
What sets me apart is that I am authentically and unapologetically myself. I’ve created a unique image, sound, and lane, and I don’t think there’s another artist who sounds quite like me. I’m proud of the individuality I bring to the table, and I wouldn’t want to be anyone else.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the past three years is that the more work you put in and the more consistent you are, the more you will see the fruits of your labor. It’s all about staying true to your vision and putting in the time. That’s what I want the world to know about me – my story is one of persistence, authenticity, and dedication
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to thank God because without Him, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I wouldn’t have the strength to keep pushing forward. I also want to give a huge shoutout to my friends and family — especially my friends who have been there for me and continue to support my music. Their love and encouragement mean the world to me. Lastly, I’d like to thank the 23 countries who are currently streaming my music and showing love. It’s an amazing feeling to have that kind of global support, and I’m truly grateful for everyone who’s been a part of this journey.”
