Hi Yusuf, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. It’s a quote that was used by my favorite NBA player Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets. The quote is meaningful to me because it defines my career and my work ethic towards being great.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a stand-up comedian. I started in Atlanta, GA on September 14, 2020 at an open mic. It has not been easy at all. The journey has given me a slew of emotions, some high and some low. Through consistency I was able to improve and gain confidence in my ability to perform around the Atlanta area. My stand-up is focused on story telling and giving the audience an idea of how a man from Jackson, MS sees the world through my experiences.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Trap City Cafe, Rose Bar, Ourbar, Cru Morrow
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I must dedicate my shoutout to my parents for encouraging to chase after my dreams. Secondly I want to thank the team that runs Atlanta’s own Uptown Comedy Corner for giving me a place to hone my comedic skills. There are several comedians that I could name that have been significant in my career but needless to say comedian Kelly K-Dubb Walker has been the most influential. Lastly I was like to thank God for giving me the gift and health to be the best I can be.
