We had the good fortune of connecting with Yung Aus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yung, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Fort Benning, Georgia but currently reside in Metro Atlanta. Coming from a military background, life has always been relatively balanced with a “stricter than most” upbringing which kept me out of trouble and helped me focus on music at an early age.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my producer career in college back in 2016 and personally never saw myself as a DJ until a fraternity brother of mine suggested that we start playing bars and college parties. With my focus mainly being on Hip-Hop/Rap, I was put off my the aspect of EDM but after attending Imagine Music Festival in 2018 my whole view on music shifted. It wasn’t an easy transition as I was looking for my specific sound or genre until I discovered the likes of Troyboi, RL Grime, and Peekaboo. The way they fuse Hip-Hop/Rap with EDM was game changing for me which is also when I discovered “Trap” and “Hybrid Trap”. As pioneers of the genre they’ve inspired my career in ways never thought possible. As far as 2023, expect lots of new music and possibly an album.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d most likely find a show for the weekend. I frequent venues such as Believe Music Hall, District Atlanta, Domaine, and Aisle 5 in Little 5 Points. Great atmospheres with some of the best staffed venues in the city. As for Food/Bar/Club anywhere in Midtown but a trip to Tongue and Groove in Buckhead is a must.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wanted to give a shoutout to the many people involved in helping my music career flourish in ways I never thought possible. To my family, the immense amount of support and love over the years has helped me in ways you wouldn’t understand. To my fans, you truly are what keeps me motivated to keep this going so without you guys I’d be nothing. Lastly, I just wanted to thank all of the artists and promoters who have helped me along this journey. It’s just the beginning!
