Meet Wynter | Music Producer & DJ

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wynter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wynter, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would say consistency in your work ethic and holding yourself to a high standard is the most important factor. Networking and not being afraid to evolve your branding and who you are is also something i would contribute to that success as well. When i first was learning how to make beats i had it set in my head that it was something i needed to take time and learn if i wanted to fully enjoy it and i carried that mindset over with how i proceeded and conducted my branding. . I did not immediately rush into uploading my first beat on YouTube, I spent alot of time learning the program and making sure what i was making sounded good to me and if its something i would want to listen if it came up in my regular music rotation. Over time that evolved as my ability began to improve and what i was making was sounding more and more like what i could hear on the radio.
I had never been one to try to copy sound or make my beats sound like a certain producer. I feel like too many people put too nuch focus on trying to sound unique that it takes away from what sounds good to their ear. I’ve always told myself that with my beats. I can make a variety of different genres that still sound like something that I have made. I wanted people to be able to hear my signature style no matter what style of beat I had been feeling currently. Focusing on what sounds good to you will eventually evolve into your own unique sound because you spent that time perfecting your craft.
Once i got to that point it was all about expanding my sound and seeing just how far it could take me, from meeting people online or in person and building connections. Being able to network has put me in alot of positions to succeed.
Having an open mind to adjust and adapt have played a big key in my successes as well. I feel like i have done a good job at evolving my sound as the years have gone on. I never want to find myself in a spot where i am falling behind in terms of what modern souding beats are like. I always make sure to stay tapped into new releases in genres of music i like to make because there is always a possiblity i can work with any number of artist.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most known for my music production work. I have a YouTube channel where i upload my beats with over 37,000 subs , 300 videos and over 10 million total views. By building my channel I have been able to continue to work with a variety of underground and mainstream rap artist including JuiceWrld, Lil Zay Osama, Lil Summrs, Daiyon, 637godwin, SeventhAngelo, Higher Brothers, Lil Darkie, Guapdad 4000 etc. I’ve also had the privilege in working with a number of popular overseas artist from the UK such as Bash Buta and 5ebFendi
I was a part of the music collective known as Winter Hill Clan. We were a group of 6 rappers and producers where we made a collection of songs that had ended up becoming really popular. I was one of the main producers of the group having produced a good portion of our work with the most popular song being Star Team. Winter Hill Clan is very special to me because we initially started as a group of producers that would try to help each other get placements with big name artist, but over time we just started to make to full songs ourselves so a few of the guys transitioned to artist and we took off from there. It was a testament to the hard work and relationship we all shared that we started from nothing and ended up becoming one of the more popular underground rap collectives.
My talents and abilities have allowed me to work in multiple professional studios in the Chicago area from Enviyion Studios to Glass Tree. I have also transitioned into adding DJ’ing to the list of things i have been able t0 do over the last couple of years doing shows for events such Tuner Fest, Wave8 Entertainment, EP3 Motorsports etc, as well as being a DJ for clubs like The Forge and rap shows for mainstream and local artist like Trippie Redd and SmokePurrp. Last year I was awarded a plaque for reaching #1 in the Global Radio Streams for a Independent artist for a song i did with daiyon and Philthy Ricch.
The journey was not easy at all, I had to face alot of set backs but the thing i would say i am most proud of is what i have been able to do starting from nothing and not really knowing anybody in the industry when i first started 8 years ago. All the stuff people told me was impossible i have been able to achieve that in some form or another and I think that’s a testament to being true to yourself and staying focused on your own goals and commitment to yourself. I would not trade any of all the rejection and opportunities i had to go through because i feel like i have learned alot in how to conduct myself and how to conduct business in this industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are alot of good places to eat here, I like food so I would take them to all my favorite food spots. The 3 that come to mind are Sun Wah in Chinatown, which is a chinese BBQ food place, Jims Original, the place of the Maxwell Srteet Polish Sausage and The Stop Along in the nortern part of the city. There is always something to do in Chicago truthfully, but In terms of places to be I would tell them to come to any of the events I have coming up to DJ at. The energy is usually very good and people always tell me they have fun and a great time when they come to events where i perform. The places are usually unique as well, I have performed at shows ranging from warehouse parties to a skatepark/concert venues.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I’d like for my shout out would go to my mom. She has been there from the very beginning of my journey and would always encourage me at a young age to explore my different creative outlets. I also credit her with giving me the mindset and the confidence that led me to truly believe that i can do anything i want to. That mentality is what allows me to always take advantage of an opportunity i can get and feel like i more than just belong in these positions, but that i deserve them. I would not have had the confidence to start and continue this journey without her.
Second, I would also like to take the time to shoutout anybody that has ever rapped on or used my beats for anything or even just enjoyed listening to them in any capacity. I take pride in the fact that my work has sparked creativity and ideas in others to be able to make their own art. A big reason i started to make music was because I liked being able to work with other creatives and make music that felt good to me, and if any of my work has inspired others, I’d just like to say thank you because that gives me motivation to never quit as well.
