We had the good fortune of connecting with Windell King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Windell, how does your business help the community?
I work with a charity called Four Hunger and we do provide food, clean and sustainable drinking water for orphanages and communities. Right now we’re on a mission to ending the water crisis in my country Liberia largest slum (West Point Township). The slum community of West Point is divided into 7 zones with each zone consisting of 4-5 blocks, so for us to end the water crisis we’ve estimated to build 28 water pumps of which we’ve built 8, 9 is in progress. My work is helping my communities and people in my country by bringing clean and sustainable drinking water and food to their door stairs.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With Four Hunger it all started with a vision, I’ve been serving humanity literally all my life even when I didn’t understand it’s importance. 2012 when I was at a young age I joined an international organization (International Children’s Network) that funded tuitions for children schools in my country and other countries in Africa and Asia. 2016 I traveled the United States as an ambassador for orphan and at-risk children traveling 38 U.S. Sates plus D.C. through said program. It was a mission to raise sponsorship for children from Liberia, India, Nepal, Uganda and Peru. When I came back to Liberia early 2017, I wanted my impact on lives to be more sustainable, for that I created several initiatives. Early 2020, I met Zachary Branch (Co-founder at Four Hunger) and we started the charity. The charity is a registered U.S. organization through the Secretary of States in Texas (501 (c) (3) Status).

At Liberia Football Academy – LFA, 2019 I met Mohammed A. Kromah and we started the soccer academy. It’s a registered business in Liberia. The Academy currently has U-12, U- 15 and a 3rd Division Championship team.

My work with with the charity and the soccer Academy has been exceptional. Why am really proud of my work is because they all started as self funded. With the charity we’re currently raising about $800 in reoccurring donation, and since we started we’ve raised $20000 that was used to provide food for 2 orphanages in Monrovia (Zion Praise Academy CRM & The Liberian Children Rescue and Educational Foundation Orphanage) and to bring water to Liberia’s largest slum (West Point Township). With the Soccer Academy it’s been challenge as it’s been self supported.

Getting to where we are has not been an easy journey. It’s been quite a challenge, with the charity there were days I’ll go without food to make sure I purchased school books for the 2 orphanages, I saw a day I went for a TV interview on empty stomach. In Africa we have less opportunities for growth, I had no other work to pay me so the little I had was what was being shared on the 2 orphanages and soccer Academy. Even with now we’re still facing challenges with the soccer academy. We overcame by modernizing the charity, creating a website where people can sign up monthly to support our cause, through this we get funded. And apparently the more signs up we get the better chance we stand to bring change to Liberia and other places in Africa. With the soccer Academy we still haven’t overcome the challenge of funding, we’re anticipating the creation of Websites where we can encourage others to support the cost. Also we haven’t had a partnership with anyone something we’re looking through right now.

Along the way, serving humanity at a younger age, starting at a children’s pastor and administrator for local churches at 10 years till 15, traveling the U.S. as Ambassador for Orphan and at risk children at 15 till 18 years, there are several lessons learnt. As my work has been mostly social, I have learned to be aware of my surroundings, I’ve learned to be observant and always the last to speak in most cases, I’ve also learned that’s there’s no better way to living than caring for others. Something I’ve appreciated my younger self for walking into my field of society.

What I want the world to know about my charity (Four Hunger) is that we intend to end the water and food crisis around our world, something we need more attention to do such. And apparently the more attention we get the better stand we chance for change, so am encouraging others to check us out and join our monthly Four Hunger community of donors.

What I want the world to know about Liberia Football Academy- LFA is we’re an emerging academy in Liberia that would have world class players soon. So we’re encouraging others to check us out on our social pages and support us through any means.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Such an interesting question. To add up on what I do, I’ve had an opportunity to bring some of the most traveled people to my country Liberia. 2019 I met the famous American YouTuber Drew Binsky and the youngest Spaniard to visit every country in the world Alvaro Rojas (Wanderreds) and showed them around my country. I also appeared in Drew documentary on my country that has over 1 million views. Since after I’ve hosted about 80 world travelers of whom I’ve had up to 8 famous people among them. What we normally do, I organized tour for them, showing them around Monrovia, checking out the Abandoned Ducor Hotel on the highest point in Monrovia (the Capitol) which is a major tourist attraction, and of course visiting my charity projects in West Point. Also I’ve had a friend I showed 2 states, visiting the beach and some scared places in the rural parts of the country. There are many beaches in my country as it’s right by the Atlantic Ocean, cool restaurants and some interesting sites. All those could be shown to a guest while visiting depending how long the person stays.
