We had the good fortune of connecting with Wilson Sunday Aina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wilson Sunday, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My everyday 9-5 is working as a software engineer. I’ve been working as an engineer for over 10 years. It’s such a passion of mine. I love problem solving and that feeling of satisfaction knowing that your code is making a difference in somebody’s life. One of the benefits of working as a software engineer is there’s alot of opportunity to work remotely (work from home). Thankfully, my current job is remote. This is beneficial because it allows me to balance my career work alongside my dream of acting. It’s the perfect work life balance for me. I get to work during the day and then immediately start my script analysis, character breakdowns, etc right after work. Also, since the majority of the industry has transitioned to self tapes, this actually is more efficient without the néed burn gas waiting on traffic. Therefore, more time get alotted towards working on my script. I absolutely love this type of balance.

I work as a Senior Software Engineer. Growing up as a kid, I was always fascinated with computers. I would always break them down and rebuild them. In college, I originally enrolled as a computer science major. But, as most of us know, the ‘side effects’ of being a freshman, partying, having fun & living freely can sometimes throw a wrench in the college plans. Because of this, my GPA fail below average. I lost my full ride academic scholarship and I ended up having to change my major. But this did not keep me from pursuing my dream of becoming an computer software engineer. I changed my major to computer graphic design which I also fell in love with. Those classes pushed and challenged my creative thought process and ideas. During my senior year, with 3 available electives to fill, I was able to enroll in 3 computer science courses, which rejuvenated my love and desire for engineering. Its crazy how God works. Because of this journey, Im now an expert in both software engineering and web UX (user experience).

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite restaurant in Atlanta is…(just promise you won’t tell anybody) called Anh’s Kitchen. It’s a vietnamese restaurant with the best noodles and seasoning. After a nice meal, depending on the season, we’d get some ice cream and walk in the park. And then in the evening, go to one of the many popping lounges in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I’d like to give a shout out to God. For blessing me with the knowledge and tools to grow my crafts. I’d also like to shout out my parents for pushing and believing in me. I also yield to the mentorship of my Frat Brothers and their wisdom. The Noble Klan of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
