We had the good fortune of connecting with William Sloan Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi William, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always loved music, it started off as a joke, truthfully. My older brother used to be the producer of the family, I was really just messing around with it at the time, not even taking it serious. As the years went on, I started to get more into it, I felt at peace, I felt like I had a way to express my emotions without using words. My brother pretty much drifted away from it, so A couple of months later, I just decided to educate myself further, pick the torch back up & re-light it. As high school went on, I just kept at it & eventually got better & one thing led to the next.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For the most part, my team & my family. They’re really the ones that make sure I’m staying busy/consistent, not losing sight of the bigger picture. A strong support system is really what’s needed, those supporters are what’s going to get you through your toughest/darkest days. You KNOW people out there believe in you. That’s really what keeps me going/keeps me busy, just knowing that there’s people out there that believe & have faith in me, is more than enough inspiration & motivation for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, Personally where I live there isn’t much to do, so I would end up taking them to New York City. I personally love the City, I would take them to Soho, Times Square, basically the tourist locations just so they can really get the full experience of being in New York City. Me being a producer, I would definitely take them to the studio for a little, so they can see how the process goes. Also, there are shows, restaurants, movie theaters we would go to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely gotta give a shoutout to my family, friends & the entire group of Violation Sounds. They’re really what keeps me going because without their support & encouragement, honestly I don’t know if I would still be trying music. They motivate me everyday.
