We had the good fortune of connecting with William Roots and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi William, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When creating Regal Empire Dobermans, I wanted to do more than just sell a dog. I wanted to create a unique experience that not only delivered a quality Doberman to my clients , but created a sense of family and luxury. Paying close attention to detail with every client allowed me to create an experience that they would never forget!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Regal Empire Dobermans is a Doberman pinscher breeding kennel that prides itself on placing quality dogs with quality families. We are set apart from other kennels because of our dedication to producing healthy animals as well as creating a unique experience for our clients. Attention to detail is paramount for regal empire and customer satisfaction always remains at the forefront of what we do.

We are most proud of the fact that we have been able to place over 300 puppies with families around the world. We have serviced clients from Canada , Europe , Africa , and even Australia!

My business grew rather quickly but I believe it was due to the dedication and perseverance that I possessed. I truly believe I am where I am today because money was not the reason why I decided to create my business. I decided to make this about the client and creating an experience for them that through word of mouth would make others want to do business with me.

It was definitely not easy to get to where I’m at today I learned a lot of very valuable lessons along the way. Some of those lessons included The art of negotiating and also how to network properly.

One of the major challenges I had to face was being a new business in a new city. It can be very difficult to sell a product in a new area when nobody knows who you are.

I overcame that obstacle by constantly promoting my brand and showing other potential clients how previous clients felt about their experience.

I want the world to know that the Doberman pincher is a truly unique and majestic animal. I want them to be in the forefront of the dog world because they are truly amazing. I also want the world to know that as a military veteran that once your service is done you can go on to do great things and truly pursue your passions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely bring them by my kennel to see the puppies everybody loves doing that. When it comes to food pretty little tacos is one of my favorite spots. Definitely going to the beltline as well as Piedmont Park are some good activities as well. Little five points is always a good time in Buckhead that’s a very good places to go shopping. My favorite place to go is usually cinebistro to catch a movie .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Creating this business and thriving in it did not come without great personal sacrifice . If not for the patience, encouragement, and love from my wife April , I doubt I would have made it this far . Selling dogs is the easy part . But it’s the behind the scenes that becomes difficult when you’re on this level. The whelping of the puppies , the administrative duties , as well as presentation is very difficult but she has helped me through all of it !
