Meet Will J Britton | Automotive Photographer and Clothing Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Will J Britton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Will J, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well I’ve wanted to have my own clothing brand since I was in high school. I worked at a clothing store in my hometown for 4 years. Always thought it would be so cool to have people wear pieces I designed and created. As the years have gone on, I kept putting it off because I couldn’t come up with a name or logo. It has always been a goal to just do it. So I finally made the choice and started getting after it!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
By day I’m a manger for a marketing company that takes automotive pictures. What sets me apart from everyone else is I do everything the right way. No shortcuts! Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Try to make people laugh and enjoy every minute of interaction with me. By night I’m a clothing designer. Endless amount of challenges because not only do I do the designs, but I also print all my own stuff. I had no background in using editing software. I had no experience printing or designing artwork for clothes. I just dove in! I’ve learned countless lessons and continue to learn new ones everyday. The most important lesson is to slow down. Take every step and hurdle with some thought. I taught myself how to use editing software. I taught myself to screen print. Some with the help of asking lots of questions with people I’ve met along the way and part YouTube. Practice, hard work, repetition, and when you screw up, try again. If you really want it, go after it! No ones going to give you anything! No one cares about your feelings! It’s you vs everyone else, sit back and watch others succeed or get up and try! When you’re all out of steam, get up and try again!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When people come to visit I always take them to Taqueria Del Sol. Also when it comes to food, you cannot come visit Atlanta without getting some bbq! Dickies or Fox Bros are my spots! . The rest of the time I like to be around family. My best friends know my family, not just my immediate family, but my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. If we’re friends, you are my family as well, so nothing better than having your friends and family all hang out together. I take visitors to the aquarium, World of Coke, sporting events, and concerts.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my Mom and Dad. Always taught me if you’re going to do something, you try to be the best at it or don’t even waste your time. Life is too short to just go through the motions. Work first, play comes later!
