We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Haraway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Will, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was able to start my own business because I had a great network. I have worked in the supply chain and logistics space my entire career, so as my friends and colleagues started to move into new companies and responsibilities, they’d ask me for marketing advice. I gave that advice often enough that before I knew it, I had my own business, working with folks with whom I already had a great rapport.

LeadCoverage came about when I met my partner, Kara Brown, on a shared digital freight broker client. We quickly determined that our skill sets were compatible and complementary— making third-party PR and AR content the tip of the spear for lead generation programs exclusively for supply chain and logistics companies. Our methods worked and we quickly decided on the LeadCoverage name, ironically while we were sitting at different tables at the Georgia Logistics Summit. Fast forward five years later, and we’re the largest supply chain consultancy in the space, working with multi-billion-dollar global companies on their go-to market strategies. It’s been great- we employ more than 40 folks and we’re right on the Georgia Tech campus.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Absolutely- I love when we engage with a new client and I can help them figure out what makes them special. What’s your niche, y’know? Every company has a unique expertise and angle and it’s my job to figure that out. Once we determine that “hook” through everything that we do, with the goal of driving leads, revenue and ROI through a unified, orchestrated process. It’s like a great band, with melody, energy and rhythm all working together to make a beautiful (and commercial!) sound. Pardon that analogy, I’m a lifelong musician and that experience is never too far from my thoughts.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Like many Atlantans, a favorite activity of mine is biking to and around the BeltLine. I’ve probably biked, walked, run, eaten, drank beers—sometimes in the same trip—twice a week since it’s opened. I also have a music practice space nearby so I stop by there and park all the time just to people watch down to the 4th Ward or do a Zoom call from the Skate Park. Two Urban Licks stands out as a particularly great Beltline spot, and Lady Bird is a tremendous vibe with one of the best burgers in town.

Obviously Ponce City Market has become a great draw, and honestly the Kroger right across is a fun place just to hang and have a casual beer or glass of wine and listen to whatever street musician- like my friend Caleb “The Human DJ”–sets up in that area. Little Five Points is another great neighborhood, I have spent many an hour at the great Variety Playhouse listening to some of the best Artists in the world do their thing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In the spirit of your magazine I’ll shout out my lovely wife Erin. She’s a design and lifestyle genius and has taught me so much about how to read a person and understand their personal style and what environment will make them the most comfortable. Her approach has definitely influenced what I do in shaping a particular marketing approach for a new contact and client. And outside of my own field, I very much admire Chef Ford Fry and his Rocketfarm team. All of his restaurants are my favorites in Atlanta, each with its own distinctive style and scene (our home base is No.246). And as a longtime Atlanta musician myself I’ve gotta shoutout my friends Nick Niespodziani, Peter Olson, and the rest of the boys from the Yacht Rock Revue. What an incredible business they’ve built on their singular talent, shared sense of humor and interpersonal chemistry. From the 10 High to Chastain Park, not to mention touring the best theatres around the country. Shoutouts to all!
