We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Belcher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Will, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Coming from a background of The Arts, I decided to further my exploration into a new form. Photography was a way I could express my most creative thoughts, and bring to life my ideas! I knew I wanted to learn how to do photography, but I didn’t want to start going into business with myself, and work with other clients until I could master how to use a camera. I actually started by taking pictures of my sister, and then began reaching out to models on instagram! Many people did not want to give me a chance because I was so new, but “GIVING UP” is just not in my vocabulary. I never did go to an art school or any training from local photographers… in other words it was just me and my camera! While it has taken a long time to learn, I am proud to be a self taught photographer!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is an expression of myself, and a reflection of the events in my life! I love finding amazing locations, and working with local artist to create my “Masterpiece.” What sets me apart from others is the my emotion of my photographs, and the tones I achieve with color grading and trying new things each time so I won’t limit my imagination. The reason I am where I am today is due to all the Talented individuals I have gotten to work with, and my determination to be successful and prosperous doing what I love! It was most certainly not easy! I have had many ” NO’s” that I have had to endure! I had to learn that in order to be a success, you have to be in love with your future, and remember who you are! what I want everyone to know about my brand and story is I am constantly evolving, and learning new things….in other words ” Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite Go-To spots would have to be Toast for brunch! their Ricotta Pancakes are super tasty with the Applewood bacon on the side! I love a good breakfast to start my day, and then I might would take them to The belt line to little five points for a little thrifting (which is where I get all my photoshoot wardrobe) I really love vintage clothes, and there are so many options in little five points! After a great time thrifting I would bring them to The Roof at Ponce City Market for some Music and drinks!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a big shoutout to Mom Christy Belcher and my Dad Gregory Belcher for being my support system when I make big decisions in my career! Also shoutout to my Brother Rand Belcher for being the first to encourage me to do photography way before I even got my first camera, and my Sister Gracie Belcher who was my first model! While I could go on about my shoutouts with Models and Mua and Hair artist and brands my family is my biggest supporter, and I feel grateful to get to work with so many creative people!
