We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Cobb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Whitney, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

My mother and I have been in the wedding industry since 2016 as wedding decorators. This started as my mother decorating my wedding to assist with costs which ultimately unlocked a raw talent of hers. Since then, we have collaborated on weddings and other events. We have always had our eyes set on this specific venue and dreamt of owning it one day. That day came true May of this year.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

The Ivy on the Plains is a secluded luxury wedding and event venue that sprawls across 36 acres. We offer indoor and outdoor event spaces that accommodate both large and small parties with onsite lodging available for guests and ample free parking. At The Ivy on the Plains, our clients can expect breathtaking views, many backdrops for photo opportunities, and various amenities such as a swimming pool, outdoor fire place, fire pits, games, and fishing. We also offer wedding packages and birthday packages. What sets us apart from other venues is that we understand all the moving parts of planning therefore we have made it our priority to give our clients a luxury and convenient experience by offering several packages that bring experiences onsite. Brides can opt to have a private massage on the property while grooms can enjoy fishing in our pond. Guests can also enjoy a private chef as well as activities such as a sip and paint on site. We have partnered with some amazing vendors and have a preferred vendor list readily available. We also offer a wide array of rentals which can be very convenient for our guests. The Ivy on the Plains is located in White Plains, GA minutes from Lake Oconee and 90 minutes east of Atlanta. This is truly a hidden gem and Lake Oconee’s best kept secret. There are tons of things to do while visiting The Ivy on the Plains. You can enjoy lunch with lakeside views at the Ritz Carlton at Lake Oconee or visit local restaurants and the brewery in downtown Greensboro. For those who enjoy action while on vacation, consider a boat ride or ATVs on the beautiful Lake Oconee. The best part about visiting The Ivy on the Plains is you can also opt for activities at the property such as private massages, games along the property, our cozy fire pit or fishing by the pond.
