We had the good fortune of connecting with Westin Gaspard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Westin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is essential to your growth and development as a person. Instead of running away from it, I find myself going towards it.

I notice that many people will run away from taking chances especially when they present any type of risk. So many of us ultimately are afraid of “failing”. However, the greatest opportunities arise when you stop playing it safe.

As Les Brown said “The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream”.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I currently work for Twitch/Amazon as a Sr. Analyst. My job is amazing and I truly love the work that I do.

Outside of my 9-5, I am a content creator on Instagram. I have always been a creative at heart and social media has allowed me to truly express myself. Nothing about this was easy and it’s still not. However, I can truly say that I am walking in my purpose.

Despite challenges I have faced, consistency will always breed results. I want everyone to know that life is truly limitless. Go after your dreams at all costs!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’ve got to hit up Paint N’ Pour in Harlem. The ambiance and vibe are always good. Plus the drinks are 10/10.

Then we’ve got to go to one of my fav restaurants, Jajaja Mexicana in Williamsburg.

After that, we can hit up North 5th st. Pier to chill and take pics.

Honestly, I suggest coming to NY in the summer time. Everybody is always outside! Never a dull moment.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

My mom has always been my #1 motivator. I have never seen anybody hustle with no complaints the way she does. I truly appreciate all the sacrifices she has made for me and my brother.

Lastly, shoutout to all the people getting it out the mud! It’s not easy especially when you don’t come from generational wealth. However, the hard work will pay off.
