Hi Wendy, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
As a young black American Haitian female, growing up in an environment where resources were limited, taking care of myself was never a priority. Survival was the focus, and with the responsibility of taking care of my siblings, I had to assume the role of a second parent, leaving little time for self-discovery. However, through numerous trials and tribulations, I stumbled upon a passionate hobby that would shape my interest in health and wellness: running and weight training.
I vividly recall the day when I realized I wanted to pursue this newfound passion as a career. It was 2016 when my mother received the devastating diagnosis of stage 2 or 3 breast cancer. This news was both shocking and difficult to comprehend. As I accompanied her to doctor’s appointments, I was encouraged to ask any questions I had. Yet, I felt lost and uncertain about what I should be asking. Then the doctor said something that sparked a realization within me: “If you don’t know what to ask, do some research on Google, and then come back to me with your questions.”
Those words gave me the permission I needed to delve into the world of knowledge and seek answers to the questions I didn’t even know I had. I threw myself into extensive research, determined to understand this disease that had struck my mother. As she underwent treatments, witnessing the debilitating side effects, my determination to find alternative solutions grew stronger. I stumbled upon articles that mentioned health remedies such as improving diets and exercise.
Armed with this newfound knowledge, I returned to the doctor armed with my questions about holistic healing and nutrition. To my disappointment, the doctor’s knowledge was limited in these areas. It was then that I realized doctors aren’t certified nor do they possess the education in nutrition and overall holistic healing. Undeterred, I continued my research, experimenting with herbal remedies on myself and noticing a marked difference in my energy levels, the speed of my recovery, and my overall mood. This encouraged me to create shakes, juices, and incorporate holistic nutrients into my daily routine.
After my mother’s chemotherapy, I began making health shakes for her, and once again, I witnessed the transformative power of a healthy, nutritious diet. This experience confirmed my belief that proper nutrition can significantly improve one’s health. Fueled by this revelation and the boost of energy I experienced, I started competing in competitive 5k, 10k, and half marathons. These achievements not only improved my physical health but also enhanced my visibility in the fitness community.
As word spread about my accomplishments, people began approaching me and asking if I offered training services. This newfound recognition led me to realize the impact I could have on others’ lives by sharing my journey and knowledge. It was during this time that I started building a relationship with myself, learning how to navigate the healing process and, in turn, helping others do the same.
Pinkberryboost Fitness, my business, emerged as an inspiring entity that serves as a catalyst for self-love. It has become a platform where I can share the transformative power of self-care with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The journey that brought me here instilled in me the confidence to bet on myself continually and strive to be the best version of me. Every obstacle, every triumph, and every experience has contributed to my growth, ultimately shaping my understanding of the importance of self-care.

I’m a certified personal trainer and soon to be certified nutritionist. I am the driving force behind PinkBerryBoost, and I represent a unique blend of expertise, unwavering dedication, and a firm belief in the transformative power of holistic health.
Ever since I was young, my love for sports and physical activity has been a defining aspect of my life. I thrived on the track, dominated in kickball and dodgeball, and eagerly embraced any game or sport that got my body moving. These early experiences laid the foundation for my future as a certified personal trainer.
But my journey to success wasn’t without its challenges. Building PinkBerryBoost from the ground up required me to navigate the intricate world of entrepreneurship. Determined and hungry for knowledge, I committed myself to learning the ins and outs of time management, organization, and the intricacies of starting a business. I attended workshops, connected with fellow entrepreneurs, and invested my resources into building my brand. It was a journey that demanded perseverance and a constant drive for personal growth.
Throughout this process, I discovered the true power of self-discovery and self-care. I realized that in order to effectively help others, I had to develop a deep and meaningful relationship with myself. This realization led me to integrate spiritual awareness, mental well-being, and exercise science into the core philosophy of PinkBerryBoost. By embracing these holistic principles, I could guide my clients on transformative journeys that extended far beyond physical fitness.
My approach to fitness challenges the norms and defies convention. At PinkBerryBoost, we don’t settle for mundane and repetitive workouts. Instead, we infuse every session with excitement, energy, and a touch of rebellion. I firmly believe that fitness should be a fun and invigorating experience, one that my clients eagerly look forward to rather than dread.
My expertise doesn’t stop at physical training. I understand that nutrition plays a crucial role in achieving overall wellness. That’s why I educate my clients on the importance of striking a balance between nourishing their bodies and indulging in delicious, nutritious foods. For me, healthy eating should be both satisfying and enjoyable.
Beyond PinkBerryBoost, I’ve made a significant impact in the community through collaborations with esteemed organizations like the city of Tamarac Recreation Center, Broward UP, Pace Center for Girls, and the Boys and Girls Club. By extending my reach, I’ve been able to spread the message of wellness far and wide, positively influencing countless individuals.
My story is one of triumph over adversity, a testament to the belief that failure is merely a stepping stone on the path to success. I’ve learned to embrace failure as a catalyst for growth, constantly evolving and refining my approach. One major challenge is not earning as much as I need to fund my buisness. I understand that starting a new business normally will experience this kind of problem. However, I am commited to seeing my business expand further than anyone in my family could imagine. I am one of the first one in my family to have established a business and will continue to develop it because I believe in it.
I want the world to know me as a relentless advocate for personal growth and positive change. My journey is about breaking free from the constraints of traditional fitness routines, embarking on an adventure of self-discovery, and unlocking the incredible potential that resides within each of us.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area of where I live, I would want to show the place that would be significant and have an impact in their life.
I’d start our week off with some relaxation and rejuvenation at the beach. The beach is one of my favorite places to reset and reconnect with nature. We can soak up the sun, take a dip in the ocean, and enjoy the calming sound of the waves, the perfect way to start our adventure.
For breakfast or lunch, I would take them to Island Sips located on 7224 West Oakland Park Blvd, Lauderhill. This place embodies everything that Pinkberryboost stands for in health and wellness. We can indulge in their delicious juice cleanses, immunity-boosting smoothies, holistic salads, wraps, soups, and healthy made-from-scratch snacks. It’s an opportunity to experience the power of a balanced, nutritious plant-based diet and feel the energizing effects of superfoods.
Another place I’d take them is a culinary Caribbean vibe restaurant Creole Garden located at 8455 W McNab Rd, Tamarac. This Caribbean restaurant offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, along with great customer service. We can savor their delectable vegan dishes while immersing ourselves in the vibrant music and culture that resonates with us. It’s an opportunity to connect with our roots and enjoy a flavorful dining experience.
For any one who knows me, knows that I’m an active person and would be embracing some level of excerise while visiting me. We’ll join my running group, Running Edge 305, either in the track field or a local community. Making our presents be known and encouraging our melinated people the benefits of exercise. Even if you’re not a runner, there will be options for various exercises and activities. It’s a chance to engage with like-minded individuals who are supportive and encouraging. Being in nature and participating in physical activities promotes a healthy lifestyle, and it’s something I love to incorporate into my daily routine.
I would also have them explore the natural beauty of Fort Lauderdale by visiting one of its stunning parks or gardens. We can immerse ourselves in the serenity and tranquility that nature provides. Whether it’s a peaceful stroll through a botanical garden or a hike along scenic trails, connecting with nature will help us reset our nervous systems, find clarity, and appreciate the incredible gifts that life offers.
Then we’ll take a break from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some downtime. We would find a cozy café or a scenic spot to relax, have meaningful conversations, and reflect on our experiences during the week. It’s essential to pause and appreciate the moments of stillness and connection with ourselves and each other.
For our final day, we’ll create lasting memories by indulging in an adventure activity. We will choose options like paddleboarding, kayaking, or taking a boat tour to explore the beautiful waterways of Fort Lauderdale. Engaging in thrilling activities while surrounded by nature which will invigorate our spirits and leave us with a sense of accomplishment.
Throughout our week together, I want to them to leave with a newfound understanding in the importance of incorporating nature, culture, and a healthy lifestyle into their life. Fort Lauderdale has so much to offer, and I want to give them a taste of the things that bring me joy and a renewed mindset.
