We had the good fortune of connecting with Wavyy Jonez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wavyy, what role has risk played in your life or career?

Life is about taking risks and seizing opportunities. We shouldn’t hold ourselves back or play it safe because when our time is up, none of our possessions will matter. We only have one chance at life, and the choices we make shape our journey. I’ve experienced many challenges and losses, but somehow, I’ve managed to overcome them. Taking risks is crucial because it allows us to grow and discover new possibilities. It’s all about working hard, having faith, and embracing the uncertainties that lie ahead.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art springs from a place of pure pain and passion. Since childhood, I’ve dreamt of being something more. I dabbled in music and a bit of acting during middle school, guiding those around me to express themselves unapologetically. The blessings of the divine have showered upon me for many years. I collaborated with friends, family, and organizations, writing countless songs. As a child, I even made it to the finals of the McDonald’s Gospel Fest, performing at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC.

In 2017, exhaustion threatened to break me, but I found solace in writing lyrics to express myself. Little did I know that my online presence would lead to an unexpected opportunity to audition for the role of THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G on a TV show. Despite my lack of experience in acting, I took a leap of faith and auditioned. To my surprise, they called me back, and since then, I’ve been fortunate to appear in many TV shows and movies.

My journey continues, reminding me of the power of pain, passion, and the courage to embrace new possibilities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would first and foremost like to give a big shoutout to God because without Him, none of this would be possible. I’m a firm believer that faith without works is dead, and that has propelled me in many ways. Secondly, shout out to my mother for always telling me that I could strive to be whoever I wanted to be in this life and for standing by me through it all. Lastly, I dedicate this shout to all the dreamers out there who have been looked over and talked down upon because they believed they had something special and strive for it every day.
