We had the good fortune of connecting with Wavess Da Artist and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wavess, why did you pursue a creative career?
Majority of my family are artists or have a musical background and you can say “it’s in my blood” I was always told I was always going to be a performer! music is my passion and I couldn’t see it not apart of my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a recording artist, performer, comedian & tv personality. I can say social media has played a big role in my ‘success’ today. Being able to engage with thousands of people across the world and receiving so much love from them helped me today. But I do feel my big break came from being apart of the Love and Hip-Hop franchise, being on Love & Hip-Hop Miami has opened a lot of doors for me and helped me build this platform. I can say it has all been a journey, but if everything easy then we would all be rich & famous. The best way I overcame some of the challenges I faced was motivating myself to go harder and leaning on my family and my tribe. One of the lessons I have learned was, everyone has their own destiny, everyone will have their own time to shine, you can’t base your success off of someone else’s. Just because their time came doesn’t mean your time isn’t coming, you just have to keep going hard and wait for yours. What I want the world to know is, I am one of a kind and I’m sure you won’t meet anyone else like me, my music is different, my music is artistic, I make music to make people happy, make people want to groove & have a good time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The funny thing is my tribe (friends) and I can make the best time no matter what, if we are just hanging out at my house and just going to the park, it’s always a movie when we link up! But definitely would hit up downtown midtown – ATL if we are in Atlanta but if we are in Miami its always up! We may even just hop on a flight and be out to another city!

But we would start the day with a brunch, then do somethings outdoors, like the park or a trail. Then we would kick back a little bit, probably go to a restaurant for dinner, maybe go to Slingshot, Andretti’s, something that has an arcade (we love being big kids at times) We like going to Hookah lounges too. I am not much of a club goer, a lounge is more my style, getting a section, and vibe out to some good music.

They also love coming to the studio with me whenever I go. They love to the in presence of when I am creating new music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate a shout out to my family! My mom has always been there for me and pushed me to keep going, my grandmother “MomMom” she has been so supportive no matter what, my sis Ray Ray has been my right hand, My little brother is one of my biggest motivations My cousin Suki has always given me a chance to shine and never let anything change between us and has been my biggest critic (even if I never asked) my cousins Yah Yah Reign & Blu has always been there, through it all! My nieces, nephews and godchildren make me go so much harder because I want to be able to give them everything they need and my camp! my tribe, I would be lost without them. (They know who they are)!

My grandmother who is in Heaven for always watching over me & protecting me.
