We had the good fortune of connecting with Wave$ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wave$, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by the people around me (VampLife) . By my drive and belief that one day I will be exactly where I want to be. I do not necessarily strive for fame but for something that will keep me O.K. When I say keep me ok I mean I wake up smiling and like I can conquer the world. The people around me keep me on my toes and my family give me the support I need to keep going. More recently I’ve been gaining fans who I don’t personally know and they inspire me as well. They make me want to keep making music and doing what I’m doing when I have those doubts, like every artist. Young people also keep me inspired. I know I am not too old myself but young kids make me feel like they’re who I have to work for. Who I have to make something shake for. They inspire me the most to make a difference where I can.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My biggest accomplishment thus far is my ep “Tsuki”. This is the first project I’ve released. I’m sitting on so much music and it’s hard to choose what I think the world is ready to hear. My music is like none you’ve heard before and I can say that with the utmost confidence. It took me about a year and a half to finally release music and from there I can only plan to do more. My website will be up and running soon and I couldn’t more excited that things are falling into place. It definitely was not an easy process but I believe the hardest challenge to overcome is yourself. Those doubts. The biggest thing to help you get past that is patience. Be patient with your art and believe in yourself. Things will soon come to fruition. I want the world to know Wave$ is for the people. I want to be that voice not only through music but in life that’ll pick you up and tell you to try again. I want to give people hope.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love food so we’d be going to eat at a ton of places! I love Jinya and Ramen Station so those would probably be the first stops. Definitely have to stop by OurBar on Edgewood. I’d also bring them to the beltline and we can watch the skaters a old fourth ward park. We can wind down the week by visiting one of the many waterfalls around Georgia.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The main person I want to dedicate my shoutout to is my producer ItsjustG or Gedia. Without him, there would be no Wave$. I was at a really sad point in my life. An emotional rollercoaster. Gedia dm’ed me on Instagram telling me he thinks we would make good music together. Mind you I had made nothing at that point. We met through a groupchat for incoming college kids a year or two prior so I was pretty comfortable going to link with him. I went to the 2405 house and from there we made MAGIC! He made me want to make music for real. And as the years go by he continues to grow just like I do. I don’t know anyone as passionate about music as the boys in the 2405 house and I’m forever grateful that Gedia welcomed me into their space.
