We had the good fortune of connecting with VICTORIA MCCLENDON and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi VICTORIA, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
One word EDUCATION. I had been mentoring and speaking with girls in nursing school long before I started my business. Nursing school is HARD, I’ve been there. I had a great support system that I could go to when I was drowning in careplans, clinicals, and tests. I wanted other nursing students to feel like they could have someone they could turn to as well. That lead me to formally starting Nurse Vik, RN as a business.

What should our readers know about your business?
Well here at Nurse Vik, RN my main goal is to educate. Provide education to those in the African American community as well as be mentor to student nurses. Outside of education, I also sale medical grade (20-30mmHG) compression socks that are cute and comfortable. The best thing about my compression socks are that they’re not those boring ones you get from your doctor and they are still medical grade compression. These compression socks can be used by nurses and other healthcare workers, pregnant women, post-surgery (BBL, tummy tuck, Lipo, etc), runners/trainers, athletes, and those with various health conditions (swelling, varicose veins, and blood clots). In an attempt to expand my business and add more products I’ve ran into a few challenges. So it has not been easy. A lesson I have learned is definitely been to stay the course and be consistent.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend is visiting the city we are definitely going to go to brunch somewhere downtown because we like to eat and day drink (we’re Aunties now lol). If not brunch we’d do a day party with some R&B vibes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family of course, they are great. They all support my business by buying compression socks. I’d like to recognize my other partner Mrs. Trice Bolden. I cannot thank her enough. Mrs. Trice has put me in the position to win business wise and I cannot wait for our business to continue to grow.
