Meet Victoria Jones | Creative Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I kind of feel like I was born into it. My parents were business owners my entire upbringing. However, when I decided this was something I really wanted to do, I didn’t want to do it just for me. My thought process is that I want to help others by creating jobs and creating a work environment that values their employees. As my company grows so will my team which means less people are unemployed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a design agency called BleuJay.Co. We specialize in brand identity design. Ideally building brands from scratch. Our mission is to add value and quality design to the companies, entrepreneurs and individuals we work with. Though this was something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, it all really began at the start of the pandemic. The moment I was told my job was closed indefinitely was the moment I said let’s make this thing a thing. It definitely was NOT easy but I was prepared for that. I knew that this is not for the faint of heart.
In this process I’ve leaned to simplify my thinking and to stay true to the services my company offers. Even if I know how to so something doesn’t mean I have to just because some one asked for it. What will happen is we’ll continue to do things that are our of our scope of practice and never grow in the direction we were set to grow. To help me stay the course or if I start to over think something, I remember something I learn from the movie The Founder. The McDonald brothers discovered that they had more value in burgers, fries and sodas and not all of the extra stuff they had on their menu. So they simplified to those there items and it worked. Now, I have it hanging on my wall to remind myself to scale it back when I start to do the most. Burgers, Fries and Sodas. Game changer lol!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I take it home isn’t and ideal answer haha! So let’s think… I won’t lie, I need help in this area. I’d recommend checking out some local art exhibitions. In terms of food and drinks, local family owned places are good because of their spin on certain dishes. I personally had a blast visiting Helen Ga at Anna Ruby Falls and tubing down the river. I’d check out some nature preserves. A creek has a sweet song to sing is you’ll listen. I’m for where the peace is.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents. My dad for teaching me and my mom for listening to every single thought, idea, concept, frustration and dream I have and believing in me.
