We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I truly believe I have always been an artist. Starting from a child, drawling my own fashion designs, teaching myself how to sew purses which were actually just strips of fabric lol. Art was my favorite subject, throughout my entire school years. Growing up, I started to expand into loving interior designing, making large paintings, building things even if it was just a box. Finally landing on floral design has been the top-tier of my artistic expression. Being capable of conceptualizing an emotion, idea, and smell into one is A beautiful combination.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Floral Design is more than just a flower arrangement, it’s a form of art. I love statement pieces, my work always has some type of drama to it whether it’s extra long leaf, accessories, or a bold color. I think what separates me is that what I make truly comes out of my imagination, you won’t see work like mine from anyone else. when I make something, I’m trying to channel all senses, almost like an experience. ’m on year 4 with CreationbyBellaRose and it has been a ride, I noticed getting into the floral industry was pretty difficult, especially when you’re new to the game, you provide a different look to the floral industry, and I am a black owned business. There are a lot of times where I would write floral designers and ask if I could just come shadow them and would be just be left on read. Consistency is the word that I kept on my forehead to stay pushing through those days where you’re just like “why am I doing this?” Lots of discouragement, and the feelings of just never being seen. I kept pushing because I know what I could really contribute to people’s lives when it comes to creativity, And I want to make sure that I have enough time in life to accomplish that. I have an 11-year-old daughter and my business is actually named after her BellaRose, And she is also an artist On the drawing scale. I want this to be a business for her to be able to express her creativity, for her to know that there’s a place where she can grow her imagination to wealth. This is a start to our empire.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We will definitely be checking out my favorite food places: Hawkers, The establishment, Joey D’s,

I’m all about the games so we would check out: puttshack, your 3rd spot, play pool at Mr. Q’s, and bowling

Grabbing drinks from: holiday bar, eclipse de Luna, ourbar,

Of course we have to get Mexican food so la chingada, and mamas is a must.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God first and foremost. My floral career jumpstarted because of a friend having full trust in me to learn how to make 16 flower arrangements for an event that she was catering. Mind you I had no idea where to even start, and I was on a time crunch. No exaggeration I watched a couple videos, went out the next day got all the flowers all the vases and I literally finished the entire task in 24 hours. There was just something about her knowing that she could lean on me to execute this creative task, without warning is my motivation, because that’s the determination that I can only get better.
