We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Hagood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
It’s honestly been hard during the pandemic, but finding that balance between school, work, and my art is the number one thing I had to figure out. Whenever I get the creative bug I drop everything else and just work for hours. It’s either that or it leaves and doesn’t leave room for me to continue my work. Now my balance lies within my mental health. If I feel good mentally everything else just falls into place.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an Multimedia artist, so my work varies from sculpture, drawing, printmaking, etc. Recently I have been working on a set of tarot cards that I am extremely excited about because I am planning on submitting some of those pieces to some galleries. So far it has not been easy, as an 19 year old artist with little experience, the rejections and critics have only offered me knowledge of how to operate within the art world. I just know that the more I push, it is only going to make it that more worth it when I do succeed. Success is going to come regardless.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to Slutty vegan or Tassili’s Raw Reality Cafe those are the best vegan spots in ATL to me. Then we would go to Piedmont park for a chill time, Little 5 points for shopping, and Cabbagetown for the beautiful murals.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely want to dedicate my shoutout to my boyfriend, Judah. He has been my ride or die from day one and has done nothing, but support me and keep me motivated to continue doing what I love most.
