We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Carlos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am thrilled to share my journey as a handmade baby bib artist using African print. What sets me apart is my bold and unexpected designs that deviate from the plain white or cutesy bibs commonly seen. Starting as a hobby for my children, I took a leap of faith to establish an LLC. It has not been easy, but I’m proud of the progress made while balancing being an artist and business owner. I’ve learned to hire an accountant, manage expectations when it comes to support, and take breaks when needed with a solid team to rely on. I hope to inspire others to pursue their passions with dedication and perseverance.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would take them to some of the best food spots in Silver Spring, like Cubano’s or Mandalay Restaurant. We would also visit the AFI Silver Theatre for a classic movie experience and check out the live music at The Fillmore. We would spend a day exploring the National Mall and visiting the African American History and Culture Museum. To get some fresh air, we would hike in Great Falls Park and then end the day with mocktails at the Rooftop at The Embassy Row Hotel.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband. His love, encouragement, and financial support have been instrumental in helping me pursue my dreams. In fact, forming Osisi & Co. was his idea. He helps me stay focused and committed to the business, even when things get tough. I couldn’t have done it without him.
