Meet Veronica Mitchell | CEO & Master Cosmetologist, Founder of Hidden Gems, Licensed Minister

We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, it all started with obedience. I didn’t wake up one day thinking I’d run a ministry, I was fine helping my husband however I just kept saying “yes” to what God was showing me, one step at a time. I saw a gap, especially for women who looked strong on the outside but were silently battling things no one knew about. Hidden Gems was birthed from that place, where I wanted to create a safe space for women to heal, grow, and lead unapologetically.
Starting Hidden Gems wasn’t about making another sisterhood it was about making impact. I knew I was called to help women rediscover their worth, break generational cycles, and walk in purpose with confidence. So my thought process was simple: If God is calling me to it, I can’t afford not to move. I had to trust that provision would follow obedience. And that’s what Hidden Gems is, faith in motion no matter how hard it gets we will take a step.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Absolutely! I wear many hats, but every single one of them leads back to one mission: to help women rediscover their worth, walk in their God-given purpose, and never shrink back again.
What sets Hidden Gems apart is that we’re not just another women’s group, we’re a movement. We focus on the whole woman: her healing, her leadership, her faith, and her future. Every quarter, we host Gems Dates, intentional in-person gatherings that give women a safe space to be poured into, laugh, cry, and be reminded they’re not alone. We also serve our community through outreach by feeding families in need and providing hygiene products to those who may otherwise go without. It’s not just talk, we show up and serve.
One of the things I’m most excited about right now is our HG Girl Talk podcast. We recently hit the Top 25 and Top 44 in two different countries, with over 3,000 streams and downloads, and counting! That’s a testament to what happens when women speak truth, share their stories, and let God use their voice.
We’re also in the process of building The Hidden Haven Empowerment Center: a safe, transformational space where women and families can receive support, resources, and faith-based development. That, along with our Crown Adjustment Group, where I send out weekly words of encouragement to women across the country 2–3 times a week, keeps me rooted in my “why.”
But the road here wasn’t easy. There were seasons of self-doubt, financial strain, and moments where I questioned if anyone would even show up. But I kept saying “yes” to God, and He kept proving that obedience opens doors no man can shut.
If there’s anything I want the world to know about me and this movement, it’s that we don’t chase platforms we build purpose. Hidden Gems exists to remind every woman that she is seen, needed, and powerful beyond her past. We don’t just empower, we equip.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh, if my best friend was in town for the week, we’d definitely have an unforgettable time! I’m all about creating memories, laughing until your stomach hurts, and doing things that feed both your soul and your joy.
We’d kick things off with a visit to 29 Thirty it’s one of my favorite hidden gems (pun intended!). It’s a hands-on experience where you get to create your own body butter. It’s fun, relaxing, and you leave with something you actually made yourself, which is so special.
Of course, MOSA ATL is a must for brunch. The food is always top-tier, the vibe is unmatched, and it’s the kind of place where you don’t just eat you experience it. The energy there is just chef’s kiss.
One of my go-to spots for winding down is IPIC. It’s my absolute favorite movie theater. Reclining seats, good food, blankets it’s a whole vibe. You won’t catch me at a regular theater!
And let’s not forget game night because I love to play games and laugh! Whether it’s spades, Uno, or some wild group challenge, it’s happening. I believe laughter is healing, and there’s nothing better than gathering with your people for a night of fun and connection.
Throughout the week, we’d sprinkle in some downtime, maybe a spa moment, a local pop-up shop or two, and a walk through a cute park or mural-filled area for photo ops. My goal would be to make sure they leave filled with joy, good food, and unforgettable memories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s no way I could take credit for the journey I’m on without honoring the people who have been instrumental in holding me up and pushing me forward. First and foremost, I have to shout out my husband, Jamal Mitchell. He’s not only my life partner but also my business partner and the founding pastor of Kingdom Light Church. His wisdom, covering, and relentless belief in the vision God gave us have been everything.
I also have to give love to the incredible Hidden Gems staff. These women don’t just work beside me, they serve with heart, with passion, and with deep commitment to the mission. They pray, plan, and pour into others with me, and I’m grateful beyond words. This journey takes a village, and I’m blessed to be surrounded by some real ones.
