We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Gomes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Yes, I do! One of my favorite quotes is from the tv show called “The Vampire Diaries”. One of the characters named Damon Salvatore played by Ian Somerhalder once said, “You can’t just sit there and wait for life to come to you, you have to go get it.”

What this quote means to me is that if you want to have the life that you want for yourself, you have to do whatever you can to achieve it, no matter how big or small. Sitting there and not doing anything to make the ball rolling isn’t going to get you where you want to be in life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My interest into this profession all started when I was in 6th grade. Seeing Bethany Mota (as MacBarbie07 at the time) doing makeup tutorials and hauls on YouTube. Seeing that I knew that I wanted to do this as a career.

I have always loved being creative since I was a little girl. I was always doodling new and different people, animals, scenery and material objects almost everyday in my sketchbooks which lead me to taking art classes, ceramic classes, learning on my own and watching other creators/influencers on how they achieve a certain look, photo/video edit, etc.

I am still working hard to grow through this profession everyday. It hasn’t been easy and still is not easy but I am not giving up on my dreams. I have learned that everyone’s journey is different and everything happens at the right time and I am just waiting for my time.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand/story is that – it is okay to be unique and different. I grew up in a south asian household and have taken influence from my background and my upbringing here in the US to have an appreciation for things that are different or outside of the norm and would love to share my passions with more of the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I would show them the best things I think D.C and Maryland has to offer!

Get some good food at place I have tried that I know they would love as well such as sushi, brunch, Japanese and/or Korean food, italian food, coffee shops. Take them to amazing scenic and breathtaking places such as museums, nature paths I have found and enjoy, go to any of our favorite spots that we would also going to. And long the way take memorable picture together so we can look back to them in future and reminisce on those times together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family. They have supported me through everything big or small, hard or easy. Without their support, reassurance, love, and care, I wouldn’t be the person I am today and I won’t be where I am today. With someone who has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder, it means a whole lot when you know your family has your back no matter how different you are. They made me realize that having uniqueness is a beautiful thing and it’s something you should be proud of every day.
