We had the good fortune of connecting with Vermell Tunstall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vermell, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Actually the process was pretty organic in the sense that I initially did not see myself as starting a business. For me it started out as a grass root effort and community outreach networking initiative. The idea was to build a platform for voices to be heard. This lead to me authoring my very first book Perfectly Imperfect which received alot of great feedback and continuous encouragement. After experiencing technical difficulties with my first publisher while having to learn sales and marketing I was ultimately told that I was a business. (Lol).

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think to be honest what sets me apart is that I really dont perceive my self as a separate entity from others as much as I see myself as a integral part of a whole. For me me it’s about interconnectedness and inner dependence as apposed to independence. this is why networking is so important. Well my story is the story of many. I am a Anti Bullying Avocate and a voice for social justice and a voice against Domestic violence. I am also a Podcast Host and entrepreneur. I have a online store on Shopify called Kiddie World Boutique. As well as a distributor for Itworks. Iam proud of all of the Bullying Advocacy work that I have done and the recognition I received from ms. MICHELLE OBAMA. I am very proud of the book I co-authored in called Girlpower. I shared my story on Domestic violence. The book became a best seller.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely take eat at a vegan spot called the Land of Kush located Downtown. We would also visit the Inner Harbor and go for a boat ride. Perhaps take the paddle boat out. We would then explore all the stores that’s down there. Like the Gallery and Barnes and Nobles (where I can spend hours there lol). We would also visit the historical museum and check out all the art work. Then we would visit the poetry spot called unspoken word and have a relaxing drink there and meet some very interesting people.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Nations of Gods and Earths. My husband. Clarence My three beautiful daughters. Brittany, Brianna, and Bridgette. My amazing Granddaughter Amira. My mother Gloria..
