Meet Venise Bowen | Artist & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Venise Bowen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Venise, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision that I ever had to make was to buckle down in my Faith and have the courage to talk away from a high paying job, to follow my dreams and passion. It was so difficult, because was people we are told to grow up, go to college, and/or get a good paying job, to only exist and pay bills. I knew that there was so much more out there for me besides punching in on someone else’s clock.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from other artist is the fact that I don’t think conventional at all. I’m always will to try new mediums and medias. I got to where I am today by keeping the course, even when it seemed like I was failing the course and wanted to give up. It was not easy at all. I’ve had a lost of sleepless nights, and early morning tears. But in the end it’s all been worth it. I’ve learned along the way that life is just that life! You have to keep your headed up, persevere, never let them see you sweat, buckle down, and give it your all to get to where you want to be. I would want the world to know that I’m a Memphis, TN born and raised creative at heart, currently residing in Atlanta! Even if I sell 100 products vs. 1 product, I’m going to always continue to create. It’s just in me. I promise to keep bring the heat and trying to be an inspiration to others. My brand is for those people like myself who feel like they are, “Too Alien for Earth, Too Human for Outer Space!” We don’t mind being different and standing out in the crowd. We are truly those Trippy Aliens!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite places to go is Colony Square. It’s always a great time when you’re there. There is music, tons of food options, shopping, and even a bar. Can’t go wrong here. Next the High Museum of Art is a defiant must. Piedmont Park for a nice picnic. Apartment 4B for food and drinks. MLK district for sure. Lets see Ponce City Market, Atlantic Station, The Belt Line, Secret Beer Garden, Krog Street Tunnel. I mean the options are endless. We would have and amazing time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my Mom Shanette Shows. She has been there through the ups and down, not only in my brand but in my life also. I love you Mom.
Secondly, I’ll like to give a shoutout to my fiancé Euneika Mitchell. She is the epitome of what a great, loving, supportive partner of an entrepreneur should be. Thanks baby! I love you!
