We had the good fortune of connecting with Vegan Simba and we’ve shared our conversation below.

What was the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factors behind my success are myself and the few people in my circle. Ever since I was a young boy I always motivated and challenged myself to do better. I have experienced many failures and I have learned from them all. I see failures as opportunities, which is why I am able to build two brands Plant Tee Knowledge and That Vegan Melanin. Brands that people find valuable. The few people in my circle believe in me and what I am building.

One lesson that I have learned is that it’s hard for others to see your vision simply because it’s not theirs – regardless, having support in your corner is important. There are people who not only support your vision but add value. These valuable people are my business partner and my personal assistant. They both have had a huge impact on my business and personal life. One thing I can say is that you can not do everything by yourself.

I continue to motivate myself because I didn’t have anyone teach me what I know now. No one taught me how to make money and how to save to invest. I knew and decided in college that the typical work schedule was not my path.
These are the key factors to my success. Along with these key factors, the success of my brands is measured by the impact it has on the community. Plant Tee Knowledge is more than organic cold pressed juice and raw foods, it’s also promoting a healthy lifestyle in all aspects; That Vegan Melanin is my other brand that supports and reflects this. We know that when we take our health seriously other parts of our life begin to align. We become most mindful of what we intake, which affects our thoughts that lead to action, ultimately which is our being.

All of these things encompass the success of my brand.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider myself an artist because of the creativity, time, and effort that I put into my brands. I created them from an idea, a thought. On this journey, I got to where I am today through my efforts as well as my disciplines and sacrifices. The disciplines and sacrifices were not easy, however with consistency and dedication I knew that I could get to where I envisioned. Dedication helped me overcome these challenges. As mentioned, there were many lessons. What I learned the most was knowing that failure was necessary, through failure there is growth and improvement.

I want the world to know that the mind is a powerful instrument; sometimes all we need to do is change our minds and then we change our world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places in the city is the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park. I see the honor and respect that Coretta had for Dr. King in her role preserving a place like this. It reflects the meaning of black love and black community, preserving his legacy while sharing knowledge. Atlanta is known for its vegan population, so I like to grab a bite to eat at plant based restaurants. Another past time of mine in the city is hiking Stone Mountain.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A few of the books that impacted my thinking which in turn contributes to my success are- “African Wholistic Health” by Dr. Afrika; “PowerNomics” by Claude Anderson; and “The Destruction of Black Civilization” by Chancellor Williams. Each of these books represent necessary components for the foundation of a prosperous black nation – health, wealth and community.
