We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Lyn Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa Lyn, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson that All Things Dressy has taught me is the importance of identifying your passion. Without passion, you potentially lack structure and the path to happiness and success. My romantic relationship failed at such a sensitive time in my life. In my most darkest moments, my brand proved to me, that there was a future for me. My brand proved that despite my failed relationship and other shortcomings, my passion would take me to other places that would lead to additional blessings.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
All Things Dressy is a specialty brand that caters to women’s social activities and occasion. It’s defined for the woman that is very social, festive, and confident in being an elegant center of attention, therefore must of our products include dresses, skirts, suits, etc.

What makes us different is our intimate customer service and our strategic engaging methods to incorporate challenging life aspects that women go through with the influence of fashion. You’ll be seeing us use fashion and our products to uplift women to be and feel their best as that navigate through life. We don’t just sell clothes, we sell inspirations and experiences.

We also give free style guides and tips to assist women in their purchase. Refer to our “Style inspirations” section of our website for virtual styling assistance.

As the owner of the business, I got to where I am today by prayers, consistency, self taught education, effective organizational skills, and mentorship.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
DC is home for me, and there’s always something to do. I would kill to a take a stroll down in Georgetown for shopping, brunch, and an amazing evening at a comedy show. I love a good laugh! Bethesda had some great comedy shows that are worth checking out. I love city life. I find it very inspiring and intriguing.

– Must importantly, a change of outfit for each activity 😉. If you don’t have in a cute outfit, the day didn’t count☺

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Mother, for teaching me have and class. As a business owner, these traits are important to have especially when you’re faced with competion.

ATD Ambassadors, @isntshelovely, @ghanasfinest, @therealnanaaba. If they even feel that I’m about to quit, they put a stop to it. They inspire me to keep going, and they’ve generated brand awareness through their following- I’m forever grateful.

My Set Stylist Deanna Gourdine, she’s my eyes and ears.
