We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa J Barton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa J, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I have always beaten to my own drum. As an artist/creative, Being authentic and expressing myself honestly has always been important to me.

This still stands true today. Even though I continue to evolve and grow, staying true to myself and how I would like to express myself is something that will never change and will always be important to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At age of three Vanessa began her dance education journey she studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Hip Hop an under various accomplished instructors and institutes such as Winston Salem School of the Arts.

Her natural talent as an instructor was developed at the age of 12 as she worked as a dance instructor’s assistant. By 16 she began instructing dance classes and at age of 23 Vanessa had obtained a personal contract with the United States Marine Corps to teach her own dance program. Within this time, Vanessa also pursued her love for performing and choreography by working on play productions, music videos and live shows.

After relocating to Atlanta, GA, Vanessa worked with the likes of musical artists such as Fantaisa, Selena Johnson, Musiq Soulchild, and various movies and live shows such as the Soul Train Music Awards as well as partnered with various educational institutions such as Emory University, Tri-Cities Performing Arts High School and traveled to perform nationally and internationally.

Vanessa later discovered the importance of self-love, inner peace and positive energy through fitness and mediation. As a result, she became a certified fitness professional and merged her love for fitness, meditation and passion for dance as a result, Fit in the City was created.

A few years later, Vanessa explored her passion/interest of the importance of Self Love and Meditation and became an author creating 3 books to guide readers towards self-love and manifesting their goals.

At the present time, Vanessa continues to share her passion for dance education, fitness and spiritual awareness via her private studio facility. As well as her entertainment talent through her company: VJB Entertainment LLC.
